Shutters on the Beach

It’s an iconic hotel, Shutters on the Beach - but, if you are planning any type of event, its most important asset is Bruce Hochberger! Mr. H is very knowledgeable and accommodating, even for finicky clientele like me! You won’t find anyone more willing to listen, help and have a “let’s make it work” attitude. We highly recommend Mr. H and his Shutters team for your next special event!

Absolutely lovely experience here! Kind and friendly people. I had the best time on my vacation. Walking distance to the beach, ocean view rooms. Waking up to the glorious scenery was truly special. I highly recommend this place. Their restaurant with outside patios is a must as well.

Must be two years since we were last here when visiting our US family in Santa Monica. The setting is really wonderful and having left frozen Scotland it was great to eat outside on the terrace in December. The lunch menu is good and the Waygu burger was really tasty and cooked to perfection. My wife's salad was excellent too. They have a great selection of wines by the glass. Not cheap, but a great quality experience. Will hopefully be back in 2025.

We visited for one night to celebrate my milestone birthday. From the moment we arrived, the valet and the friendly woman at the check-in counter made us feel welcome. Our room was not only clean but also filled with delightful beach-themed details. To our surprise, there was a delicious chocolate birthday cake waiting for us in the room. We dined at Coast for both breakfast and dinner, where our server Jesse was engaging and offered fantastic suggestions for our meals. Order the carrot cake! We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, which were quite pleasant. On our way to the pool that evening, Lisa from housekeeping noticed that one of us was missing a robe and kindly provided us with another. Her thoughtfulness was much appreciated. During the day, we took advantage of the complimentary beach cruisers and relaxed on the sand in the hotel-provided beach chairs—such a wonderful perk for a seaside hotel. We also loved sitting in the lobby by the fireplace while listening to live music in the evenings. The overall "small beach town" vibe of this hotel was truly enjoyable, with its various seating areas and charming beach decor throughout. I can't wait to come back!

We went to 1Pico for a romantic meal. Had dinner at the bar with Art who was friendly and helpful. Mary helped with our wine picks, we had some small Cali producers. The food was incredible. I had the scallops and the filet was great too! I would definitely go back soon!
