Melia Santiago de Cuba

This hotel was the flagship hotel of Santiago de Cuba, and it's a shame that it has been neglected. The comfort conditions are minimal, with cockroaches in the rooms and even in the restaurant where breakfast is served, which was the only one I visited. I imagine the others are in the same condition. I am more than certain that the conditions of this hotel do not meet the international standards of the Melia brand. The air conditioning is generally off in the common areas, rooms are really to as well and the heat is overwhelming. It's impossible to stay in the lobby due to the heat. This is a city hotel, not an ecological one, and it's truly a shame that no proper conditions are provided for this place. The food options are very limited as well. My children could hardly have anything for breakfast because there was hardly any variety. They are charging for this hotel as if it were a 5-star, but it doesn’t even deserve a single star. The only thing keeping this hotel a place that can be visited is the hospitality of its staff; I have no complaints about them "BIG APPLAUSE TO THE WHOLE STAFF". I wouldn't stay here again.

This hotel exceeded my expectations, this was first visit to santiago de cuba. The service was subpherb and the staff was very welcoming esapecially Elvis Abad. He made sure our stay was comfortable and treated us like family.

Melia hotel was a great experience. Very nearby the center of Santiago. Nice rooms. Beds sleep well. The bathroom had everything we need. And it was quiet. The staff was very kind and helpfull. Great lobby where they make real mojito's. And coffee in the morning. Dinner in the restaurant was limited in choice but much better as it is for the cuban people in the town. Staff again very friendly. At the birthday of my daughter they sang for her, great surprise. We visit a couple of times the rooftop bar with a beautiful view at the city. Great mojito and a cool breeze to relax in the evening. We did not visit the swimming pool only for a drink at the bar. Looks good and the people seemed to have fun. There where only a few people staying in the hotel, because a lot of reasons you know yourself, therefore not everything was open and is a pity. The hotel and staff deserves more visitors. Our special thanks are for Pedro, the tall man in the lobby. The gentleman who was always thoughtful and friendly. And, very nice, his English was very well so we could have a ( small ) conversation with him. And when we asked some, he tried very much to find a solution. Thank you Pedro, the man who likes Sky Radio 😀, to make our visit very pleasant.

The best hotel in Santiago de Cuba !!! , workers are very friendly and helpful!!!, especially Pedro ( he was amazing 10/10) Super clean hotel , great music , my family love it, especially the pool area . We really enjoy our vacation there, we will back soon .

It’s a great hotel. Beautiful rooms, lobby, and garden. The food was good. Sometimes, water wasn’t available, but that was understandable given the conditions of Cuba. I’m not a swimming pool person, but it looked nice. The buffet was closed sometimes in the evening because there were less than 30 people in the hotel. But the Italian restaurant downstairs was an acceptable alternative. Especially the kind and helpful staff made it an unforgettable experience.
