Embracing a legacy of rich history dating back to the 15th century, Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando Hotel is located on the first paved road of the New World, Calle Las Damas, in the heart of Santo Domingo’s historic Zona Colonial, designated a UNESCO Heritage Site. Comprising three stone houses and courtyards built in 1502, the historic building was the very first to be built on the country’s colonial land and the home of the town’s founder and first Spanish governor of the Americas, Nicolas de Ovando, and his companion Christopher Columbus.

Loved this property but was particularly stunned by the service. Hector helped us day in and day out. Felix provided tons of suggestions for dinner and drinks when we were in a tricky schedule. And Francisco was at seemingly every door and helping with our bags. We were very lucky to have these guys around and it made our traditional end of year vacation so much more enjoyable. Thank you, Hector, Felix, and Francisco.

I am going to try to keep this short.. I am Dominican and came to visit DR with husband a toddler and the in laws. We booked a hotel that didn’t meet our expectations so we didn’t know where to go.. we entered this hotel and it felt right! Hector showed us a room and helped us with parking. Ashley at the front desk gave us a great last minute deal and included breakfast for us. And the service after we checked in and settled was exceptional from the breakfast and the attention of Yaritssa, Ada, Euceidy and Karliz to the evening bar crew.. Sara.. you are the best serving us the best mamajuana! You know your stuff together with Francisco and the others to the after care at the front desk.. Sergio thank you for helping us together with Ashley to extend our stay.. that is how happy we are here.. rooms are clean, spacious and complete. The structure of the hotel is old but modern and well kept. Breakfast is complete buffet with everything Dominican to everything from wherever you are from! Location of the hotel is incredible.. you can walk through the old city and to great restaurants. Ideal hotel for a wedding.. we saw one and it looked like a dream. If you are in DR for business or pleasure.. this hotel is where you need to to stay! It is worth every penny! Book it you will not regret it! I was in room 3028 I was one of the few with a balcony! Loved it!

A truly beautiful property with excellent staff. They were wonderful with any issues that came up (wifi went out one night and they got it up within the hour). Yartissa, Luceidy, and Ada took excellent care of us each breakfast. Wonderful experience from the get go and with a really nice look and feel to the rooms. The location of the property is equally a huge plus. Couldn't recommend this property more

Best choice for a lovely experience in the zona colonial. The service was impecable. Especially Felix who gave us a tour of the historic property. It’s in a very safe and convenient location. I felt comfortable walking alone. Good food. Good breakfast. Comfortable clean rooms accommodating when I wanted to change dueto a loud party. Stay an extra day to enjoy the resort atmosphere

I was in Santo Domingo for almost three weeks for work and stayed the whole time at Nicolas de Ovando. The staff in particular was wonderful, they were so welcoming and kind. Dianela and Karlis especially at breakfast every morning made my day. The food is delicious, my room was bright and clean, and the WiFi was always very fast. Would recommend to anyone and hope to come back soon!
