Well, what was probably the best and most nostalgic Bed and Breakfast anywhere is history. It is being totally gutted, renovated, with all exquisite furnishings sold. I'm so disappointed and saddened. I want Jennifer back! What is the new owner thinking?!😔

My husband and I stayed here to celebrate his birthday weekend. We were pleasantly surprised, the staff is phenomenal. The rooms are nicely decorated for the era. The mansion is centrally located. We walked to almost everything. This is a beautiful place and the breakfast is delicious and well thought out. The presentation is great. The tea and snacks during the day are great and they offer free port and sherry for those who partake. They have a full bar and a nice commons area. The first room we stayed in was the sorghum cane it was okay but we loved the peach leather room. I would recommend this place, the staff are very attentive, they go above and beyond. They were excellent. The atmosphere is very inviting.

The Ballastone is a beautiful inn located in the historic section of Savannah. The staff are amazing! They are helpful and congenial. We especially want to commend Macon, one of the concierges. She was cheery and informational about places to visit and transportation options. My husband wanted to surprise me for our anniversary with a bouquet of roses and wine. Macon contacted a florist who created an absolutely magnificent arrangement that blew me away when I walked into our room. It brought me to tears. I want to think the staff at the Ballastone for making our visit to Savannah and our anniversary so memorable.

Recommend with extreme reservation. I have a list of reasons why. At 400.00 per night, I expected some amenities among a clock in the room, a phone, wake up service, cart to carry luggage, and a person at the front desk. Also, the room had torn upholstery, ripped wallpaper hanging down in the bathroom, loose fixtures in the shower and bathroom sink( leaking) loose electrical outlets(hazard) in front room. Also the the TV had 2 units with no instructions how to use them. The manager had no idea either. The house keeper figured out they both needed batteries. No fridge. Not a pleasant experience. Oh, we were told they were getting a remodel next year and still charged the same price. They were so kind to give a 200.00 discount after I gave them a list of unacceptable conditions. Don't come here if you can avoid it, but be sure you go to the Crystal beer parlor and Wright Square Bistro. Great food, value, and service.
