Perfect Getaway

Gorgeous property - rooms and grounds are top quality. Love the beach pool - lots of kids but still enough spaces to get away for couples. Dining options are pricey but so worth it! The staff were all top notch - drinks by the pool came quickly and often! Will be back.

Luxurious spring break vacation.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We came to Scottsdale for spring break with one other family, and spent half of our vacation at the Fairmont Princess. Here is my review of the resort: GROUNDS: The resort itself is very pretty. There are plenty of walking trails, and we enjoyed exploring it. It's not too large that it overwhelms you though. POOLS: We had a fun time at the various pools. We went to the main one next to Ironwood, as well as the splash pool with the slides. It wasn't very crowded when we were there, so it was easy to find pool chairs. The kids had fun at the slides, but I will see they are best suited for smaller kids (say under age 10). Drink and food service was fast. ROOM: We booked a standard balcony room that felt very luxurious. The balcony had a great scenic view of the courtyard. It was relaxing just to sit there at night and feel the cool breeze. The room was quite large, and I liked that the bathroom was isolated from the rest of the room. You could use it at night or early morning and not wake up anyone that was sleeping. I liked the big shower and the dual vanity sinks. The one disappointing thing was that the shower pressure was not strong. The beds and linens were amazing! They were so plush and comfortable. DINING: We had lunch at Ironwood, which was fantastic! Everything we ordered there was very tasty. They also have a big kids menu. We also had one dinner at La Hacienda, which was expensive but great. Overall, the Princess food and drinks are not cheap, but at least you are getting high quality. We also ordered DoorDash breakfast one day (you have to meet the driver in the lobby). KIDS CLUB: The kids club is free after 1pm, and our group had a blast there. They had all the fun things you would see at an arcade: games, foosball, ping pong, Pop-A-Shot, board games, Nintendo, skeeball, etc. And best of all, everything was free to play! We were there when it was empty, so it was an ideal way to spend a few hours. SPA: The famous Spa is one of the main reasons we decided to book the Fairmont. It lived up to the hype. The facility is so luxurious and big. They even have their own gym. I had an hour magnesium massage, which was one of the best I've had. Overall, we had a fantastic vacation at the Fairmont and I would highly recommend it.

Warning

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

We just left the Fairmont Princess. The hot water faucet in our tub was spewing rusty/filthy water. In shock, we called the front desk. They said "sorry we can move you to a different room." That was it. No one ever came to investigate. The lack of care or interest was a real eye opener. After leaving a day early, they never contacted us to make sure we are ok. We had been showering in that room for several days. Who knows how long this has been happening, and how many previous guests have been showering in rusty water without knowing it? My next message will be to the health department.

Great resort for a spring break getaway

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Excellent check-in, friendly and welcoming staff upon our arrival. We took a golf cart to our building, we stayed in G building close to the Sunset Beach Pool. This pool was excellent for young families with a zero entry close to the sandy beach. We had a 2nd floor view of the Casitas and it was very peaceful in the morning and evening to sit outside . Room was spacious and well designed. Comfortable for a family with 2 young children. La Hacienda (Mexican) restaurant was great, the food was delicious, drinks and food were delivered pretty quickly. Staff were friendly and welcoming to families. The fishing derby was fun, our kids tried fishing for the first time and loved it. They didn't catch anything but enjoyed watching other children when they did! The Sonoran Splash pool had amazing waterslides that were a hit with our kids and the pool design created different areas to play in. The water temp was perfect so the kids could play longer! We always found plenty of lounge chairs available regardless of the time we arrived! Poolside service was ok, the servers were friendly and drinks arrived quickly but wait times for food were plus 30 mins. There was a movie night Friday and Saturday in the Fragrance garden. Fantastic set up with fire tables and lounge chairs for the kids, amazing service, kids loved the popcorn and soda. They played a different movie each night, both were family friendly. Ironwood was closed for dinner our entire stay and we felt there was a lack of family friendly dinner options other than the Mexican restaurant. Our kids didn't want Mexican more than once so we ended up eating dinner at the Plaza bar twice and the food was consistent both times. I had the wedge salad and my husband had the cheeseburger both times, both delicious. They had an unofficial children's menu and our kids enjoyed the food. Service was friendly and the food arrived quickly. We enjoyed using the trailblazers kids club in the afternoon for a break from the pool. We enjoyed the many fire tables and wood burning fireplaces throughout the resort. What a great idea to have so many gathering places! The daily housekeeping service was consistent but the nightly turndown service was not. One time they arrived after 9pm and we were already in bed! The other times they arrived either while we were getting ready for dinner or while we were out for dinner. One time they left 4 chocolates, another 2. One time they left water at the bedside table and another they did not. I would like to mention that one of the housekeeping supervisors was absolutely amazing when our daughters favorite stuffed animal got sent to the laundry when the sheets were changed. After I called she immediately went searching for it in the laundry and rescued it and returned it within 15 mins! She made our little girl very happy!! We visited the breakfast buffet at Ironwood twice. The eggs, potatoes and meat selections at the hot station were unfortunately cold, either the burners were not turned on or the lids had been left open. We absolutely loved the cold stations including the fresh donuts! The service was friendly and fast both times. Overall we loved visiting the princess and plan to do so again in the future.
