This is such an incredible hotel in the most amazing location. Yes it's remote, but that's a great part of the hotel. The view is stunning, the hotel and pool is gorgeous and such a nice design. The team are all really friendly and welcoming. The restaurant and bar is great, they were even happy accommodate both vegan and nut allergy in the restaurant with a delicious meal and dessert. The wake up call for the Northern lights was a really nice touch.

We had a lovely stay at the Ion Adventure Hotel (October 2025). We stayed for two nights during a snowstorm and it was stylish yet cozy with the most beautiful views. The bed was especially comfy! We particularly loved the outdoor geothermic pool and were lucky enough to witness the most beautiful aurora display for hours whilst relaxing in the pool. One of the hotel staff members kindly helped us drive our car out of its snowy parking space when we came to leave.

We stayed two nights at the Ion Adventure Hotel and had a memorable experience. The remote location is absolutely stunning, and the drive in—winding through dramatic landscapes—offered breathtaking views. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine and quickly checked in. One thoughtful touch we appreciated was the option to sign up for Aurora (Northern Lights) wake-up calls, which we eagerly did. The rooms are compact but well-designed, making smart use of the available space. They had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The Northern Lights Bar was nice, attentive bartenders, and good cocktails. The geothermal pool was a relaxing spot to unwind, though we were surprised by how shallow it was. There was bar service to pool and great views. We had dinner at the on-site restaurant and were pleased with our meals, despite the very small menu. While some guests may find the breakfast buffet pricey, I personally found it convenient - perfect for fueling up before a day of adventure. It’s worth noting that due to the hotel’s remote location, dining options are limited, so you’ll likely eat most (if not all) meals at the hotel. Overall, I found the staff friendly and professional, and I truly enjoyed my time at Ion Adventure Hotel.

Loved this hotel. Gorgeous room, beautiful Icelandic landscape around, amazingly comfortable bed, loved the hot spring pool (though other guests could be reminded about showering before entering!) Meal was one of the nicest we have ever had - delicious lamb and fresh fish. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return.
