Nice view great location and very conveniences especially if taken taxi back from the bund side. The room is very large and the bed is very comfortable. However, if I can give negative stars for the services I would give it. I booked through Fine Hotel & Resort which guaranteed a room upgrade and late 4pm check out. Upon check in at 2.30pm, the room was not ready which I understand. Then I went out and back again at 3.30pm and the room still not ready and the staff cannot tell me when it would be ready. I waited patiently until 4.10pm then asked and still the room was not ready until my friend demanded to talk to the manager then suddenly the room was ready at 4.15pm. No apologies or any feedback from the management on the late check-in. Upon check out, I received a box of amenities and the staff did not say anything except this is a gift for you. They also forgot the deduct USD100 credit from Fine Hotel & Resort so I have to remind them. Later I emailed the hotel general manager asking if he/she know about my late check-in as I had already filed a complaint but not received any feedback/responses on my complaint. He replied that he is aware and he explicitly mentioned that apologies has been extended (which I assume it was the box of amenities that the hotel staff did not tell me what is it for) , and with the room upgrade to 88sqm and 3pm late check out so he hope that I had a good stay. The way he responded feel as if this is the favour that the hotel has given to me already (implying I upgrade you and give you late check out already why are you complaining ). The attitude is very bad and no wonder the service has been sub-standard vs other Regents.

We are fortunate to have Marriott titanium and Hilton diamond so we typically plan our stays around these two mega hotel chains. This time though, I took advantage of a Capital One Premier Collection Hotel and Resorts promotion last October and made a booking for the Regent Shanghai Pudong for the following July. Regent is part of the IHG family and I realize my platinum status probably won't go too far on upgrade requests. I want to give special thanks to Robin Wu and Sheldon Bao for their excellent communication before our departure and for a Wow factor in Shanghai. We paid approximately 800 CNY for an upgrade to the Pearl Tower Suite and the view was simply priceless!!! Our family just had afternoon tea the previous day at the Shanghai Tower (highly recommended to avoid the crowd) on a cloudy/rainy day and the visibility was not the greatest. In our opinion, we preferred the sight of the Pearl and Shanghai Tower right in front of us from the comfort of the hotel room even more. I also booked another room with my IHG points for my mom and she was impressed with the size and quality of the accommodation!!! Our kids took advantage of the swimming pool and the giant whirlpool in the afternoon and had a fantastic time to cool off from the hot weather outside. Unfortunately, our flight left early the next morning so we didn't get a chance to try out the breakfast. Again, we appreciate the efforts of Robin, Sheldon, and the rest of the fantastic staff for an outstanding and memorable stay!!!

(posted at Trip.com as well) Me and my girlfriend booked a one night stay at the Regent Pudong for her birthday. I would like to start off by saying Robin was fantastic from start to finish. I emailed several hotels for more information on spa and dietary information but Regent was the only one that got back to me thanks to Robin. He was also very helpful and added some nice touches to our stay during check in. We stayed at the King Club Regent room with the Pearl view. Needless to say, the view was amazing and the decor and details were beautiful. The free minibar had decent offering. There were many amenities but no sanitary pads. Spa was amazing with a great view. We booked the Legend Reborn massage and we enjoyed it lot, the pressure was just right. They arranged an English speaking masseuse for my girlfriend which was a nice touch. The only disappointment that we had was that both the sauna and steam room was not working in the female spa section. As we stayed in the club room, we enjoyed afternoon tea in the club lounge. The view was once again, beautiful but there weren't many vegan options. However, one positive was that all the food had dietary information labeled which is hard to find in China. The breakfast was fantastic, there were many options from Asian to Western cuisines, all of which were very tasty! Again, dietary information was there for each dishes. The only feedback is that some food was mislabeled as vegan despite having egg/diary in them! Service was a highlight; from check in, afternoon tea, breakfast, the spa and check out. The staff were friendly, helpful and spoke good English and have great attention to detail. Overall, I would recommend Regent Pudong and would definitely stay again.

First of all, I usually stay on the Puxi side of Shanghai, when I travel to the city, which is about 4 or 5 times a year. On this visit I was attending a conference on the Pudong side and didn't want to get caught in the morning traffic, so opted for the Regent. Pudong is not the "walk around and explore" part of Shanghai, but the Regent's location is very good if you want a bit of skyline outside your window. Depending on the room's location, you can also get a glimpse of the Bund and the Huangpu river, and Pearl of the East (东方明珠) TV Tower. You are also right next to two of the highest buildings in Shanghai, if you wish to go up to the observation decks at the top of them. I stayed on the lounge floor. This came with a complimentary bottle of wine, free first round of in-room beverages and snacks, free first three pieces of laundry washing per day, and access to the lounge. The lounge was open for breakfast, so you don't have to fight the crowds in the main dining area on the first floor. The selection was fine, considering it wasn't designed to be a huge a buffet. I ate well. The view from the lounge also looks out directly to the Pearl of the East. My only complaint, and this seems to be true of Shanghai in general as I encountered the same thing at other hotels in the city, is that the lounge only has set hours for morning, noon, and evening. And it closes rather early. So it's actually not that easy to take advantage of it, since except for breakfast, the other times it is open for service (snacks and beverages) are when most people are most likely not at the hotel. I'm used to other hotels where it's open for breakfast, and then has general snacks and beverages throughout the day until around 10pm or 10:30. Another hotel that I frequent in Shenzhen also has a formal lunch and dinner time rather than snacks (though with just a few options). I did have the evening snacks, and they were fine -- like the finger foods you get at a reception. Beverage choices were fine, and the desserts were also good. I just wish the service hours were longer in general. The room, itself, was good. Large bed, good linen, bathroom was spacious and the already mentioned city views. The reception desk and concierge were fine. My assistant who travelled with me this time was also given a box of chocolates since when registering the hotel discovered that it was their birthday. That was a nice touch. All in all, it was a comfortable stay. The next time I am on the Pudong side of Shanghai, I will most likely consider the Regent again.

We were offered an upgrade at check in as per our credit card (to start next day) but it never happened. Manager, very rude, confirmed us that it was not possible (as opposed to message from employee at check in), Right after SPA treatment at hotel, we were pulled out by an hotel employee to the lobby (in bathrobe) to provide an “extra deposit”, Frequent water pipe noises at bathroom, Room service un-reliable (order not in line with request)
