Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai

Booked a 6 night stay with Bund view room (standard room) and staff upgraded to high floor room under GHA membership benefits. Was a birthday stay as well and received a slice of cake in room. Hotel is located about 7 minutes walk away from Lujiazui station, and was convenient to get around. Surrounding can be quiet especially during weekends since it was in the CBD and neighboring buildings are mostly financial centers. Hotel had indoor pool and jacuzzi along with sauna and steam room which were working well and had a nice view. Gym was adequate too and overlooking oriental pearl tower. Bed was comfortable and room was decently big enough, though rooms look a little old and dated. Housekeeping was proactive daily and replenished all items. Room overseeing the bund view was great. Toilet was narrow though and was translucent which can be of concern if there is requirement for doors for toilet. Counter staff looked stern but was helpful and had enough deployment to cater to inquiries and assistance. Overall would recommend to stay here.

Beautiful lobby area, lovely to relax in and mil around enjoying the festive decorations and atmosphere. Staff are absolutely lovely, everyone we spoke to from the concierge to the restaurant manager, duty manager, receptionists -all so nice! Cannot fault service here. Things are done quickly, any errors rectified instantly, there’s no waiting around. Breakfast was excellent, especially for us as we are a vegetarian family and have struggled in the past with food options this side of Asia. There was plenty for us this time though from traditional Chinese dim sum, noodles to vegetable dishes and western options including lovely breads, beans and sautéed veg. Plus an ice cream station -my son was in heaven!! Location excellent, 10 mins walk to super brand mall, even less to Disney flagship store and pearl tower. Room decor is dated, you have to expect that. It’s not been brought up to standard in a very long time. It’s a decent mid-range hotel in terms of room comfort.

I booked Grand Kempinski hotel 2 nights for myself and 1 night for my family in November. It was an amazing experience there. I arrived early morning, the staff at reception managed to let me do the early check in so I can go to the room after an overnight flight. On the second day, when the front desk manager, Kraise，(she was very friendly and professional) learned that this is a family reunion trip, she decided upgrade my parents room which is an absolutely a surprise for all of us. My parents they love the room and we are so lucky that we saw the rainbow after we entered the room! I do believe her outstanding empathy can bring her more success. The room is flawless, gym with TV tower view and they have rich breakfast buffet line as well. Thank you for all the staff there, we appreciate everything you’ve done to make our trip so precious. Highly recommend to all the travelers when you visit Shanghai!

This hotel is beautiful. The rooms are huge and spotlessly clean, we had a Premier Skyline View King Room which had great views over the river. Loads of little touches slippers, robes, great toiletries as you would expect. Had a meal in the bar and drinks, very reasonably priced and good service. They do an evening happy hour which is really good value. Perfect situated for the Pearl and many shops and restaurants nearby. Definitely would recommend
