Just half a mile from Siem Reap’s town center, Sala Lodges are a beautiful, authentic immersion into Cambodian culture. Each lodge has a story. “Muoy,” known as the house with many roofs, came from Ta Prom village, where its carpenter embellished it with ornate, heartfelt details before he and his family moved away. The master bedroom now shimmers with patinaed furniture from India, a country that strongly influenced Khmer culture. “Dop Pi” belonged to Madame Ro Hong, a 70-year-old descendant of Chinese traders.

A really wonderful hotel full of Cambodian tradition and hospitality. It was such a pleasure to stay in an old wooden house. It was incredibly comfortable and luxurious. Great breakfast served overlooking the beautiful gardens and a wonderful swimming pool perfect for cooling off after a day of temple hopping.

We loved the hotel . The beautiful grounds , gorgeous rooms on stilts, delicious breakfasts. The salt water pool is divine and the service is friendly and incredibly helpful. We loved that it was near to town yet away from the hustle and bustle. We loved Siem Reap and this hotel was special.

A welcome change from the normal concrete block hotel backed up by first class service, attention to detail and staff who cannot do enough for you. The traditional village houses have been brought to the site and painstakingly restored and rebuilt with all mod cons included. They are spacious, cool and delightfully quirky. The breakfasts are excellent with specials on offer for lunch and dinner. The grounds and pool offer the perfect end to hot day’s temple touring. And only a five minute tuk tuk ride into town.

This was hands-down the most beautiful hotel we stayed at during our month-long vacation. Everything you read is true! The "rooms" - real Cambodian traditional houses brought here for a modern reincarnation - are spectacular. Enormous, plenty of room for unpacking, great shower, thoughtful touches like daily goodies gifted on top of the bed, great reading lights, and turndown service that turns your mosquito netted king-sized bed into some kind of fantastical magic carpet-looking vehicle. Breakfast was lavish and delicious. We had dinner at the hotel one evening and enjoyed that. The pool was beautiful, but really, the weather warms the water to such a degree that it was not entirely refreshing (a universal challenge in Cambodia). If it hadn't been so hot we would have enjoyed the inviting-looking outdoor bar/lounge (others did). The room has two air conditioners which gets the temp to comfortable. We arranged for the hotel picked us up from the airport and also two days of guided tours at Angkor Wat - and the guide was superb. (We were glad for the air-conditioned vehicle rather than the tuk-tuk but perhaps we are especially heat sensitive?!) Staff couldn't have been more helpful - booking dinners and an excellent circus show for us, driving us into town in the property's tuk-tuk. In short, if you can swing it, stay here! You will remember it for the rest of your life!

Shortly to leave Sala Lodges for the next leg of our south east Asia tour. What an absolute pleasure it’s been to stay in this oasis yet so close to the hustle and bustle of Siem Reap. The lodges are very well appointed with efficient air cond. the beds are spacious and comfy. The staff were all so friendly and really can’t be faulted. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We also enjoyed an evening meal with the food being perfect. All in all a memorable stay for all the right reasons. We’ll certainly be back but just be prepared for a bit of travelling to get here as Siem Reap doesn’t appear to have long haul flights from Europe. We flew via Bangkok which was absolutely fine.
