What was once a 16th-century working plantation is now an eco-friendly Caribbean hideaway that pays homage to its storied past. Fond Doux Plantation & Resort, located on the island of Saint Lucia, in the historical center and UNESCO World Heritage Site of Soufrière. The tidy wooden cottages, many cloaked in a crisp white hue, dot the tropical retreat and provide a space for guests to lounge on front porches and enjoy the lush scenery and foliage. Interiors are equally charming, with a blanket of wooden planks coating the floor, rattan furnishings and broad French doors that push open to marry the indoors with the outside.

I had a lovely stay at this resort! The staff were very welcoming from arrival. We stayed in the Lemon Cottage which was very cozy. If you’re someone who loves connecting with nature and overall just love natural stuff I would recommend this resort to you, you definitely won’t regret it. The place was clean we had no complaints about anything.

We cancelled our reservation at Fond Doux Resort on February 22, 2025. Following up a few days later with the accounting clerk, we were advised that our refund would be applied by February 27, 2025. That did not happen and there was no explanation or communication from the resort. We made multiple email attempts to reach the clerk, without an acknowledgement or response. We finally received a reply on March 7, 2025 stating that there were “issues with our system” and making new promises about our refund. It has now been over three weeks since we cancelled our reservation. It has been ten days since the resort falsely claimed that the refund would be transacted. Fond Doux may be a wonderful resort - we’ll never know. No customer should have to experience this to receive a refund. It’s unprofessional, unnecessary and destroys trust.

We went to St Lucia to do a few days of sailing and a few days of land based vacationing and stayed in the Avacado cottage at Fond Doux, near the Pitons. It’s a very large property located in the rainforest . It was like being in a botanical gardens with cocoa trees, banana trees, star fruit, oranges, and many, many flowers. We really enjoyed the fantastic hiking trail that goes to a look out of Petit Piton. It is strenuous hiking but the view is spectacular. Apropos of the history of Fond Doux plantation they offer a chocolate making class, which was a very fun highlight and taking the free shuttle to the beach for snorkeling was excellent too. The buffet breakfasts, which are included in the Five Fingers restaurant, were really special and overall the restaurant was so good we didn’t go anywhere else for dinner. The serving was well done along with the all-around great service from the host Gilroy. And we were super impressed with the service from LeAnn and Tameka and the front desk staff. Highly recommend.

We had a great time at Found Doux Resort. We especially enjoyed meeting other guests there and the food was delicious. It is a unique experience staying on the plantation in the middle of the jungle. If you are staying in one of the cottages on the hill, it is a hike up the hill. We loved our cottage, pool and veranda. The front desk help were hit or miss as others said. Some were great making reservations for us and others didn't know what was happening at the resort or provided false information about local attractions. It is convenient to get to Sugar beach, the Tet Paul hike, The Chocolate hotel for dinner and or a tour and the hot springs. We did the chocolate tour at Fond Doux and didn't feel it was worth $50. The woman in the Chocolate lab was less than personable.
