About the Hotel

When Paolo Zuccari purchased a 19th-century former tannery in the lovely Umbrian village of Spoleto, he restored its former beauty and radically transformed its interiors. Now run by his family, Hotel San Luca, a small, old world inn just over an hour north of Rome, features decor worthy of a museum and has earned the distinction of being a Fodor's Choice hotel named "Spoleto's finest." Warm natural light filters through an arcade and into a central courtyard surrounded by spacious, airy bedrooms furnished with sumptuous beds two meters wide.

Reviews for Hotel San Luca

Such a lovely place to stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

My wife and I were very pleased with our stay at Hotel San Luca. It is in an excellent location and very quiet in the evening. The room was lovely and breakfast very good. The staff was very helpful. Spoleto is a beautiful town to visit and close to Assisi, Perugia and other Umbrian cities. Bill Fiorelli

Decent standard

Large impersonal hotel in a former tannery by the city wall. Good sized, light and airy bedroom and large well fitted bathroom. Bar in lounge serving costly drinks with at one time intrusive electronic music emanating from reception (presumably reflecting the odd personal taste of the middle/aged male custodian). Good breakfast spread, with hot eggs, wurst, croissants, various cakes and yoghurts (though all were sweetened)

Great 4 star hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We really liked the San Luca. It's classy, stylish and not very expensive. Room was comfortable, spacious and full of style and breakfast was also super. One of reception staff was a bit grumpy towards us, I'd hate to guess why, but the other one was friendly and booked us an excellent restaurant for dinner. The hotel is great and recommended and so is the town of Spoleto.

An extremely comfortable hotel with efficient friendly staff.

A beautiful traditional hotel in a very convenient location. We had an extremely comfortable room with a view of the garden. The staff are without exception friendly and very efficient. An excellent breakfast in a charming dining room looking onto the flower filled courtyard . We couldn’t fault this hotel and hope to return for a longer stay.

They like to play AC game stay away

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

Overall our stay wasn’t pleasant at this hotel. The rooms were old and the tiles on the floor looked dirty and scratched. The main reason we left was because this place likes to play with the AC. They turn it on and off when they feel like it from their computer. After walking around hot and humid Spoleto we came back to a sauna. We had to start the AC by the time it cool down I was animal already because I had showered for dinner and I was dripping wet. Next day I wake up because it’s so hot in the room. I call the front desk and they tell me they are cleaning the rooms and turn the AC off when they do this. Obviously they never heard of a thermostat or they just think I’m a stupid American. After they saw I was aggravated the man upfront said out AC wouldn’t be blocked any more. Americans don’t come on vacation to a 4 star hotel and have to sweat like a pig while they are getting ready. They might be use to it because they live here but that doesn’t mean the guest have to suffer. Overall I spent 450 euros for a hotel that shouldn’t even have one star.

This is a great family-owned inn. It was a very good spot to not only explore Spoleto, but most of Umbria. This was one of our best vacations ever.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel San Luca and it was a very good experience. Not only were the property and our room both very nice, but the staff provided some of the best service we have ever experienced in a hotel. They treated us like we were a part of their family. Hotel San Luca was truly outstanding.
