Reviews for The Royal Sonesta Chase Park Plaza St. Louis

Well, I logged on just to give the Royal Sonesta some love.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

After our stay, I was surprised that the average rating was only four stars. Of course, every review is the product of each traveler's experience, but ours was great. The former/current Chase Plaza is an old (1922) and historic hotel property. Obviously, they have had to refurbish many times in order to maintain a clean and modern experience, but our room was great. It offered ample room, elegant furnishings, and a luxurious decor. The internal doors are all heavy and appear to be real wood, as opposed to replicas. The location is fantastic, being kitty-corner from beautiful Forest Park, with many attractions, walking trails, and manicured outdoors space. I did chat with one of the servers who has been with the hotel for 25 years. That kind of loyalty generally indicates a fine place to work. We did have one crummy experience with one of the featured restaurants in the building. The Preston got our orders wrong, served some of the food cold, and generally made a mess of things. On the other hand, they tried to fix everything as best they could, and were very supportive. I chalk it up to the fact that there were two weddings going on in the building and the restaurant was serriously understaffed for the evening. In the case, I am cutting them some slack. There is a great little high-end, downtown, grocery store (Straub's) just accross the street offering standard groceries, as well as liquor of all kinds. I would stay again.

Worth the Price - a first class hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

A first class hotel with very nice rooms stacked with excellent toiletries, gratis water bottles and excellent WiFi. The showers are large and adjusting water temp and pressure easy. Excellent hair dryer also supplied in the room. The only thing to be aware of is that this hotel is very large and spread out so it's a hike for old folks like us to get around. On the plus side the restaurant staff and room service are outstanding.

I hate giving bad reviews but,

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The good: This stunning property has a historical feel. It has plenty of places to eat, a movie theater, and over a million feet of space. The pool was gorgeous, and the rooms were generally clean. The bad: If you drive, it will be very hard to find the front because the name doesn't stick out when you are driving in traffic. Also, the front drive-up is small, and cars are parked randomly everywhere. I tried to order room service for breakfast, but the "Guy" who does room service didn't come in, and they didn't know when he would, so they canceled room service. (THEY CANCELLED ROOM SERVICE BECAUSE OF ONE GUY) I was offered the chance to sit in the restaurant if I wanted. WOW I have included a picture of the massive amount of dust caked on the inlet for the room cooling system, which explains the stuffed-up respiratory system I woke up with the morning. I don't believe that housekeeping knows whose job it is, but they should have reported it, at least to maintenance.

Amazingly Gracious and Helpful Staff

Tonight, my faith in humanity and customer service is completely restored! I want to thank Andi, Alison, Gage and Chloe with all my heart. I went to a movie at the Sonesta Hotel in St. Louis that we natives still refer to as the Chase Park Plaza Hotel. When I got home I discovered that I'd lost my phone. A quick check on Google's "find my phone" told me that it was in the park across the street from the hotel. They went above and beyond by helping get my laptop connected to the hotel wi-fi, so that I could better pinpoint the location of my phone and then watching my laptop while it rang my phone as I went across the street to search for my phone in the park in the dark. I returned about 20 minutes later, completely dejected and resigned to replacing my phone and recreating its contents, only to find all of them smiling. It turns out that the phone had been in the movie theater all along, even though I'd checked there first. Your staff seemed genuinely as relieved as I was. I felt completely taken care of. They were so great that I asked for all of their names so that I could write this review. I hope that you appreciate them as much as I did and that they get recognized for the outstanding customer service they provide. Cheryl L.S. Jones

Great visit

We had many requests as we were traveling with family of all ages for a big event. Pablo and Caren were so helpful at the front desk! They helped to make our stay great. The Chase is such a unique hotel and we love staying there when visiting St. Louis.
