Villa Dagmar – My Favorite Hotel in the World!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Villa Dagmar is, without a doubt, one of the most incredible hotels I’ve ever stayed at—probably my absolute favorite in the world! During this trip, I also had the opportunity to visit their sister hotel, Villa Dahlia, which is newly opened. I had a drink there and was equally impressed by its beauty, located in a charming square next to August Steneerberg’s house. Both properties are stunning and offer such a unique, luxurious experience. The staff at both Villa Dagmar and Villa Dahlia are phenomenal. I’d like to give a special shout-out to Ella at Villa Dagmar. I had to check out very early in the morning, and Ella went above and beyond by preparing a breakfast box for me—such a thoughtful and kind gesture. Her professionalism and warmth truly made my stay extra special. Ella’s kindness and attention to detail are beyond words, and she’s a wonderful reflection of the hotel’s exceptional service. While all the staff at Villa Dagmar are fantastic, I wanted to highlight how amazing Ella is for making my experience even more memorable. And let me not forget to mention the breakfast at Villa Dagmar—absolutely incredible! Every meal I had there was delicious and made my mornings so much better. At Villa Dahlia, I only had a drink and some snacks, but the hotel itself is lovely and full of character. Anna, who was working at Villa Dahlia, gave us a tour, and I want to give a shout-out to her as well for her wonderful hospitality. Thank you, Villa Dagmar, for another unforgettable experience. It’s always such a pleasure to stay there—I truly love it!

Shocking

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

This hotel has the potential to be great. As the location is fab. But oh boy , it disappoints in so many levels. First of all , upon booking this hotel , I had made numerous calls to this hotel to book , sometimes to be on hold for 40 min. No one would pick up. This should have been a huge red flag. I managed to call Diplomaten (a sister hotel) and they picked up immediately (as you do). They said they will inform the management and they apologised and booked a hotel room for me. Upon arriving I was put in a different room as my room wasn’t ready. (I had requested an early check in) But to my shock I realised that the only girl behind the desk checking guest in and out of the hotel , was also in charge of carrying my luggage upstairs to my room. She did that only because I looked shocked as it was no bell boy to help me with the luggage as I had 4 bags and also my children. The reception area was freezing and I saw that there was portable heaters behind hotel desk for the staff but no heating in the reception areas. It was minus 12 in Stockholm as the time of our arrival. The hotel staff are rude and dismissive. When I arrived late to come back to my room at midnight , they stopped me to ask for advanced payment (they had my credit card details anyway) they said it’s their policy. This while my children were sitting and waiting in the lobby at midnight. There was a bag missing (they didn’t bring it upstairs ) and when they did , the lady came in to the room as I was in the bedroom resting and attempting to speak to me. I told her it was late at night and she was being intrusive and whatever she wanted to tell me could have waited and she should not be coming in to my bedroom while I was lying down. It was all surreal to be honest. I still to this day , do not know what she wanted to talk to me about. The gym is super small. You can only have one person at the time training in there. Room service is shocking. You don’t get new towels. They fold your old towels. They are thin and crusty and old. There is no water for you in the room. So if you want to have water by your bedside you have to pay for it. I asked 3 times and they still would not leave water in the room so I had to take it from mini bar and I was obviously charged for it. They don’t tidy the room while cleaning it. All our stuff still left as we left it. So I’m not sure what the point of housekeeping was really. And for turn down service ? Nah. They don’t even know the word and that is none existent. Breakfast buffet is minimal ! Hardly any choises. No matches !!! So if you smoke and ask for matches , they give you a gas stove lighter the size of your leg. It’s pretty wild !! This hotel is like an Airbnb. They don’t understand the meaning of service or even luxury. It’s expensive for what it is (I had one of the biggest suits) and I had to carry my own luggage up and down the building. Go to other hotels and do NOT waste your money here.

Weekend away!

This was our first visit to Stockholm. We booked this hotel via booking.com The hotel was lovely. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. Bar area is lovely and a nice place to sit and people watch. Our room was small but ideal. Bed was very comfy, maybe too comfy. Room was spotless and bathroom clean very well appointed. Breakfast each morning was great - loads of choices and something to suit everyone. The hotel is perfectly situated for wandering around. We loved Stockholm and would definitely stay here again and recommend it wholeheartedly.

Very Stylish stay in heart of Stockholm

Great hotel in so many ways Cool bar with vast array of wines Expensive but that’s Sweden Perfect location for accessing shopping museums old town etc Food very good although we didn’t try breakfast However small but significant criticism was room Basic double at the top of the building with large wooden struts encroaching into space which you had to bend to avoid Not good for my aching back Also awoken each morning by a lorry depositing what I assume was used bottles for recycling Very noisy Everything else was lovely in the room Beautiful bathroom (perhaps not well stocked with toiletries ( Very clean Comfortable bed Just avoid the attic room if you can

The Party is On, and On, and On

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Villa Dagmar is a lovely hotel in a great location. My room was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. Be forewarned, however, that you will be blasted with unbearably loud music every night until midnight. Their restaurant is in the enclosed courtyard and the party is hopping every night. If you want peace and quiet stay elsewhere.
