Felt like Vail but in New England. Something for everyone - luxury resort with all the amenities and service, and the old school Mansfield lodge and double chair lifts made it feel like I'm getting the best of what New England ski resorts have to offer!

Location, location, location: The Lodge at Spruce Peak is the flagship and showpiece of Stowe Mountain Resort, a spectacular ski haunt and retreat near the town of Stowe in northern Vermont, comprising two separate mountains: Spruce Peak and Mount Mansfield, Vermont’s tallest peak. Stowe is the quintessential four -season New England sports and outdoor adventure: from world- class skiing to hiking, fishing, horseback riding, golfing and a gourmet restaurant scene. Yet both for serious ski enthusiasts who let it rip as well as for more laidback folks - both who also want the pampered comforts – The Lodge at Spruce Peak is winter escape artistry at its best, the primo place to lay over. It’s an unbeatable ski-in/ski-out experience, mere steps from a charming village center and a snowball's throw from Stowe’s fabled ski slopes. Fellow downhillers, trust me, you haven't really been to Stowe unless you've stayed at the slopeside Lodge. And that’s kudos to GM David Lockard and his stellar team. The hotel, warm and welcoming, dodges the clichéd ski-motif ambiance and faux alpine vibe I find so many ski resorts overdo, yet hits all the authentic mountain-high notes. Accommodations boast mountain vistas and range from studios to four bedroom luxury suites, many with balconies stone fireplaces, kitchens and spacious bathrooms. As well, there is the splurge of slope-side private residences, condos, and townhomes. All the essential amenities are done right: a year-round heated outdoor pool and Jacuzzis, a superb spa and fitness center, and a selection of first-rate onsite restaurants. Plus, a rare bonus luxury: hotel valet parking, and the personalized attention of a ski concierge in the winter. It makes for a perfect winter getaway equation: rustic yet refined alpine elegance equals gracious hospitality. Oh, and the stunning scenic mountain views in every direction are on the house – literally.

Stowe Ski vacation with children and grandchildren. Loved the "Ski Valet" service. Service and staff were excellent. Loved the included breakfast of bacon, eggs, and waffles. Concierge and Bell Crew were most helpful both at check-in and checkout. Cleaning crew didn't miss a thing. Our stay at Spruce Peak exceeded our expectations on every level.

Great property! Excellent spring skiing!! The rooms were fantastic - nice bed/pillows, quiet and clean. Outstanding amenities (outdoor jacuzzi-pool, nice gym) - wonderful valet service (ski and car). We would love to return in the summer for hiking

We spent a few days at Spruce Peak Lodge in March for some spring skiing. They have really worked to make this experience like stying in a resort out wet. We pulled up to the hotel and the valets had our car emptied and skis on their way to the ski valet within minutes. I cannot say enough about how the the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. From the the car valet, the front desk, ski valet and housekeeping. Everyone was very friendly and efficient. The common areas were kept very clean. The outdoor hot tub - I enjoy outdoor hot tubs and only book places that have them for ski trips. The changing area for the pool was a little musty but I suppose that's to be expected in a wet environment, and I'mm being picky. It might be helpful to have signs regarding children in the pool area though. A few times there were a few times we saw kids there with no one watching them and overall it seemed kids were more in the hot tub than the heated pool. It would be nice if one of the 2 hot tubs was for adults only but I'm sure this place gets crazy during weekends and holidays (we stayed Sun-Wed) There was a child in diapers in the hot tub one afternoon which usually isn't allowed, so we decided to leave. My navy bathing suit bleached grayish so I guess there were chemicals put in to counteract such things. That was a negative. The only somewhat alarming incident was that the power went out around sunset one afternoon (which I know happens in Vermont). When it didn't seem to be going back on right away, my husband and I requested our car to leave the property and go for a bite to eat someplace that had power (again I'm not faulting the hotel for the power outage). However, when we exited the room and got into the hallway it was pitch black. The exit signs were not illuminated at all. I know VT is a bit lax on their building codes but I would think there should have been battery back up for people to evacuate safely. Spruce Peak is the smaller ski hill just outside the hotel. Otherwise you take the little gondola to Mansfield mountain which is the main ski area. During the day there is regular "ski hill" food at both sides of the ski areas At night, there are two restaraunts which had a decent selection if a litlte on the pricey side, but this is a high end resort. There's also a taco place which is very casual if you just want a quick bite. You'll need a car though to get to town where there are more selections. Once we were ready to leave, the valet came for our luggage and even packed the car for us. All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay at a very nice resort. We would definitely stay again and the kids/chemicals/exit sign should be easily be fixed.
