Reviews for The Fullerton Hotel Sydney

Another enjoyable, relaxing experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

The foyer is stunning - the historical building is always a delight to see. I love sitting at The Bar for a coffee and enjoying the ambiance of the place. We love the big bathrooms and tower views. We have stayed in the executive floor rooms and the lower floors - the club lounge could do better with gluten free options - we found much nicer gf food at cafes and restaurants in the CBD. Some rooms really need maintenance attention. Despite these issues, we will stay again as it's just a special place to be because of it's location and historical surroundings.

Beautiful hotel in the middle of the city

Lovely hotel in the middle of the city and handy to all attractions and lite rail. Beautiful achitecture and decor. The rooms are spacious with lots of light with large windows. The air-conditioning was good and very quiet. Overall the hotel is beautiful and enjoyable place to stay. We would be happy to stay here again.

Good hotel with great service

Nice rooms, well appointed. The hotel was full but very quiet. Hotel is well located to the light rail and railway together with all the shops close by. Staff friendly, polite and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Room service was quick and discreet.

Great CBD experience

Lovely room, well appointed. Beautiful pillows. Would prefer to have a top sheet than the doona covered sheet - too hot as we don't use aircon. But that's typical of many hotels. Great location if needing to be in the CBD. Lovely view of clock tower and thick windows meant no chiming keeping us awake.

Lovely stay, with some improvements possible

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

I stayed 8 nights at the Fullerton Hotel as part of an interstate trip to celebrate my birthday. Overall we had a fantastic stay, and I’d happily stay again but in a room in the tower second time around. I found the hotel itself to be warm, welcoming and friendly, clean and with a great atmosphere. We stayed the first few nights in a heritage room on level 3, before needing to transfer to level 1 for a second booking. The rooms themselves are heritage because they’re part of the original GPO building, so they’re on the older side but spacious and the beds are really comfortable. The problem with the level 1 rooms is that they’re far too close to the rest of the hotel (restaurant, bar, atrium area) and the huge lack of proper lightproofing in our room meant I slept pretty badly the entire time - the blockout curtains in the bedroom are useless when a flimsy paper curtain in the bathroom sends all the bright hotel lights straight into the room via the glass doors. There’s also a lack of sufficient soundproofing, and you hear the noise from the hotel throughout the night (music, piano, guests in the bar etc). I would not stay on level 1 again. If you’re staying in a heritage room and placed on the first floor, request to be moved to the third floor - better yet, book a room in the tower and avoid altogether. The breakfast buffet at The Place is 100% worth it and in my view exceptional for both selection and service. I loved it. As a big fruit eater I especially appreciated the high quality of the fruit, along with healthy options such as yoghurt and muesli pots. You can also get eggs made to order, along with surprisingly excellent coffee. The staff here are friendly and attentive and always happy to help, and really made the breakfast experience a joy each day. Others have noted the issues getting a table later in the morning at peak times and I definitely observed this, but got around it by eating early. Don’t go after 8:00am or it is pretty chaotic in terms of the wait for a table and the number of people. Eating earlier means a relaxed and quieter breakfast experience, as I discovered. The staff here are incredibly accommodating and helpful and I appreciated their kindness during my stay - Po at The Place, Emma and August on reception and Eduardo on concierge are a real credit to the hotel. The service was outstanding. Overall despite the room issues I really enjoyed my stay and I’ll likely return to the Fullerton when next in Sydney.
