Best Hotel Ever!

This was the most perfect hotel we have ever stayed at! The views of the Opera House are literally unmatched and the hotel overall is just amazing. Great service, beautiful rooms, lovely pool area. We loved our stay and cannot wait to come back!

Mediocre Hotel with Fantastic Views

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Completely underwhelming experience. We had high expectations given our wonderful stay at the Park Hyatt Auckland but this hotel is in definite need of an upgrade. We had two adjoining rooms on the 2nd floor for our family of five. Our room had a distinctly musty basement odor which we immediately notified the front desk about (our daughters’ room was fine). It got better after we ran the air conditioner but it still lingers even in the furniture. They need to dehumidify the rooms. Five minutes after checking in we got locked of our daughters’ room because the battery in the lock died so security was needed to fix the lock. The furnishings are nice but the interiors need to be repainted and renovated. The bathroom and closet doors are all very thin and cheaply made with various dings and cracks along the edges. They also don’t stay open so we needed door stoppers to keep doors open, particularly the closet which is TINY so you can’t be in there with the door closed without feeling like you can’t breathe. The bathrooms for our rooms are fully enclosed and the light is very yellow and weak, so you will need to do your makeup/etc outside by the window. The tub/toilet/etc are all super old. The service is fine - polite but not warm and gracious. The only reason to stay here (other than the use of points which was our reason) is the location. The hotel has a prime location right on the harbor with the most beautiful view of the opera house. It’s also just a 10 min walk to the ferry if you want to catch a ride to Manly and is a very picturesque start to a stroll down to CBD. We are doing a historic tour of Sydney tomorrow that begins right in this area and there are historic structures right around the hotel. Breakfast is very nice because of the views. The cold buffet is very small but the cooked dishes were excellent and include Asian specialties like roti with green curry. Haven’t yet checked out the pool and gym. This hotel hasn’t been renovated since 2012 and it is clearly showing its age. The rooms look and feel like an upscale Westin. Unless you’re using points it’s not worth it. I would recommend the Four Seasons. We met travelers in NZ who came from there and they all uniformly praised the hotel. We will certainly make that choice the next time.

Exceptional late lunch

Had an excellent late lunch in the Lounge room, with tremendous friendly service from Kim and Jessica. Highly recommended. The quality of the food, the fantastic location and the laid back comfortable atmosphere made for 3 hours of pleasure.

Excellent hotel with amazing Opera and habour view. Very elaborate breakfast with many a la Carte choices and good staff. Very central location. From the hotel you can walk to the famous Habour bridge, circular Quay, Opera House, train, bus, light rail stations. Best hotel in Sydney

A Phoenix, flying into the limelight

Wow! thank you PH Sydney. if you read back in my reviews, I have experienced the best and worst of times in this hotel's journey. I am delighted to say that once again, the Park Hyatt Shines brightly as a wonderful home in Sydney! From the wonderful kind and authentic check in by Megan, to the service at breakfast - all the staff kind, authentic and helpful, to the lounge staff and the super attentive housekeeping team, to Simon at concierge for arranging tennis. The hotel is on top form again, the staff are engaged and warm, the service is sensational. I had just the very best time and am thankful that the hotel has returned to its former glory and recruited a team of superstars to deliver first class customer service! thank you.
