We have stayed at the Four Season Sydney three times in the past year. Our first two times blew us away with the outstanding service. In fact, we changed our reservation to stay at the Four Seasons the second time. We wrote glowing reviews after our trip. This is why when we knew we were coming back to Sydney the only hotel we considered was the Four Seasons. From the moment we stepped inside we realised that things had slipped. The check-in was not smooth . Despite several people waiting to check in, there was only one clerk. Another clerk came out and was obviously not happy to be at the desk. She made no eye contact and was very short. We had a lot of luggage and a bellman loaded our luggage onto the trolly. He tried to shove our hats into an empty space on the cart , crushing them in the process. Our room was very nice and comfortable. The Four Seasons’ beds are heaven. The bathroom is well laid out, if a bit small. Housekeeping did an excellent job. For us the real slippage was the bar and restaurant. Every morning when we arrived for breakfast we are escorted all around the room. The hostesses did not know where empty tables were. Tables were left with dirty plates. Service was very slow. One day our coffees had not arrived by the time we had finished breakfast. We went into the bar one evening for cocktails . We ordered one of their specialty (cold) cocktails that had coffee in it. We asked for decaf. They could not make the cocktail with decaf because it was pre -made in jugs? Despite the cocktail being pre-made and the bar being empty, drinks took a long time to arrive and cheque even longer. Another night after dinner out we decided to go into the restaurant for dessert. The restaurant was empty. Despite this it took over 5 minutes to be seated. Then, 15 minutes with no wait staff . Finally, the hostess came back to take our order. We asked a few questions which she could not answer. We placed our order for deserts and digestifs. The drinks were, as they say in the industry, short poured, very short poured. The Four Seasons desserts have always been fun, exciting, and worth every calorie. No longer. To say the desserts were underwhelming is a gross overstatement. A fast food restaurant has better desserts. The hostess came over , we expressed our displeasure. She said they were trying new things. Then, she sent the manager over. Instead of listening to our opinions, he said by way of explanation “ most people have dessert after dinner.” That is true, and we were among those. But, even if we had dessert first, that does not excuse the shoddy quality of the fare. Even the service from the concierges has seriously slipped. On our previous visits we felt like we had made new friends with the concierges. Their advice had been extremely helpful. This time the concierges made us feel like we were bothering them. Upon checking out the clerk was just as uninterested in us as the clerk was when we checked it. It is such a shame. The Four Seasons is a beautiful hotel in a great location. But most of the service has gone seriously downhill or is it slacking? There are many fine hotels in Sydney. On our next visit we will be checking in to a different hotel, NOT the Four Seasons.

This was the first stop on our holiday to Australia. It was a great location with spacious comfortable rooms with great views of the city. We were travelling with my disabled step-son and the facilities were great for him. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We didn’t eat at the hotel so unable to comment on the food but everything else was great.

Staying for 3 nights. Transfer from airport to hotel was amazing. I am traveling with my mother. Requested several times before coming for an early check in. Emails, WhatsApp messages and calls. After a 22 hour journey from New York could not wait to relax in the room. Unfortunately, the check in experience was quite pathetic and probably the worst for any four seasons. The lady did not even offer water. Everything we asked was replied with a prompt “no”. It is 11:30 am and still waiting for a message about check in and room availability. I understand that is subject to availability but wish someone takes priority for senior citizens and wish we knew earlier. The lobby was crowded and there were only four counters. No one really coordinating the process. Amazing experience at lounge 32. Swift moving staff and amazing food.
