We’re family-owned and our passion shows. Cala Luna is one of the only hotels in Guanacaste, Costa Rica that remains green all year round. There are few barriers between us and nature. Open-plan spaces and secluded accommodations meld into the lush jungle that attracts more wildlife than anywhere else in the area – monkeys, raccoons, iguanas, birds, insects, and us. Within this natural retreat, we offer five-star barefoot luxury that’s open to everyone. We nourish our senses daily through delicious home-grown ingredients, gastronomic farm-to-table dinners, holistic wellness, spa therapies, and deep connection to Mother Earth. From dining with us at our homestead La Senda and walking the world’s largest labyrinth, to sipping cocktails on the beach as the sun slips over the edge of the ocean – you choose the memories to carry home. Welcome to an unforgettable experience.

This hotel is a sanctuary in an otherwise bustling and busy beach town. The grounds are beautiful and serene, and with a short walk to the beach the lack of ocean view is more than compensated. The food is outstanding. The service, Steven especially, is amazing and you never lack for anything. I would definitely return for the food alone. The sunsets from the beach nearby are spectacular.

This place will always be special to my family and me. When looking for the perfect wedding venue, we wanted to prioritize nature and the true Pura Vida experience for our family and friends. My wife is a born and raised Costa Rican. So it meant the world to her that our wedding venue passed the Costa Rican vibe check. After researching countless venues we landed on the Cala Luna at the recommendation of our wedding planner, Heidy Quesada. The pricing was reasonable and it had the exact aesthetic we were looking for. The hotel and the nature within it was simply beautiful. You genuinely feel like you're walking through the rainforest as you walk the grounds. The rooms were also well-designed and stylish. But what really sets this place apart are the people who work there and the dedicated service they provided. There was never an issue they could not solve. I wish I could shout out every single individual I had the pleasure to interact with but there were simply too many to recall. Our wedding celebration turned out to be far better than anything we could have hoped for. And so much of that came down to the Cala Luna and their staff. I cannot recommend staying at this beautiful hotel enough. And if you are looking for a beautiful wedding venue, look no further. This place was a dream. Can't wait to return someday.

What a find the Cala Luna was when I planned our trip to Costa Rica. About a mile south of Tamarindo center, it’s tucked quietly off the beach in the most natural setting. We loved everything about this place from our gorgeous room, to the delicious food and drinks, to the amazing service. Charlie, Fleur, Katya and Steven took very good care of us while we were there. Highly recommend the Farm to Table dinner experience they offer.

staff was great! food was AMAZING and healthy! atmosphere was very relaxing, quiet, and restorative. Overall better than could have imagined trip at Cala Luna and would recommend to anyone i know coming to Costa Rica. All the staff were genuinely kind, smiley, friendly. From the front desk checking in, restaurants, and by the beach everyone was great. Steven at the beach brought us lunch by the water and helped with our chairs. Very kind to talk with and made it where we never had to leave the beach which was so nice. The entire Origen restaurant staff was incredible. Catalina, our server the first night, asked us our names, not sure i’ve ever experienced that at a restaurant before. Made it feel we were being served by someone who cared about getting to know us. The food was INCREDIBLE! As a picky health focused eater it was the perfect place. Organic fruits and veggies from their farm La Senda, grass-fed meats, and everything was delicious, fresh, and left me feeling really good after. The staff even accommodated our request to make a dessert pizza on their homemade sourdough pizza crust which was one of the most amazing items i’ve ever had- i want one right now just thinking about it! Would highly recommend anyone considering Costa Rica go to Cala Luna!

I have stayed at fabulous hotels from Milan to Maui, and this hotel was definitely in the top handful. We arrived at night and it was magical, with all the unique lighting, jungle foliage and open air lobby, as well as the warm greeting from the desk staff, who provided aromatic cool towels and fresh passion fruit popsicles before taking our luggage and escorting us down a winding well-lit path to our bungalow suite. Wow — large, private, extremely clean, and smelling like a spa! The bathroom had dual rain showers, a really nice touch. The pool is open 24 hours, another excellent amenity. The Origens restaurant, where we had 5 different meals, was a highlight of our entire trip —- all organic food and all of it bursting with flavor. Another highlight was the beach, where Steven catered to our every need with his friendly and attentive service — setting up beach chairs, bringing us food/drink (from Origens!) and regularly checking in on us. We WILL be back.
