Reviews for Cala Luna Boutique Hotel

Great rooms, vibes, and service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 19 hours ago

Cala Luna was overall a lovely stay. The service was phenomenal. Eddy went out of his way to arrange a jet ski session and was super responsive. The rooms were high quality with beautiful modern design and were clean. The location was just far enough away from the city center hustle bustle which was very relaxing. The sunset cocktail hour was a lovely perk. Some cons were limited breakfast options, food prices were too high (almost price gouging), transportation options into town were too expensive, beach was rocky/not swimmable, and free water was not provided in rooms. The bar at the pool closed at 5pm which seemed too early.

Like staying in a rain forest

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Loved the hotel location (short walking distance from Tamarindo) and a block from the beach. The hotel property made you feel it was more remote like being in a rainforest. The hotel staff is super friendly and the concierge team is super willing to help with transportation (to/from airport and town) and aid in arranging tours and dinner reservations. The hotel offers lots of on site yoga and wellness classes and Personal experiences. Noticed there are lots of return customers. I will likely one of those returning customers

Perfection in Costa Rica

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

It's hard to know where to begin to describe our stay at Cala Luna. Everything about it was perfect. The resort is on Playa Langosta, which is a short 5 minute cab drive from Tamarindo, but a completely different world. The beach was beautiful, not at all crowded. If you walked in one direction you would eventually reach the hustle and bustle of Tamarindo, walking in the other direction was a National Park with a river flowing into the ocean. The food at Cala Luna was delicious. The breakfast had everything you could want, omelettes and eggs made to order, as well as vegan options. We ate dinner there several nights and the meals were delicious, everything so fresh. There were so many amenities included, the sound bath, yoga and exercise class, as well as sunset cocktail each night. The grounds of the resort were so secluded, lush and tropical, it was hard to believe you were just a short distance from Tamarindo. You could have beach chairs delivered to the beach if requested and the pool had many cabanas that were free, unlike other resorts we have stayed at where there was a hefty charge to rent a cabana for the day. We booked a king suite and it was well worth the few extra dollars. It was so spacious, the twin showers were incredible, everything was modern and worked well. We had a very lush patio area outside our room where you felt as if it was your own private resort. But the best thing about this resort was the staff. Everyone went out of their way to be friendly and make sure you every need was taken care of. I can't remember all of the names, but Karin at breakfast made sure I had ice tea every morning, Steven and Eddie bringing us beach chairs, Chris and Charlie in the dining room, and Joanna in the spa. I only wish I could remember all of the names of the wonderful staff!

lovely resort

we very much enjoyed our stay. we had a suite and it was roomy and comfortable. On first morning we were awoken at 5 by the Howler Monkey's but after that they usually made noise in the day or evening. The breakfast buffet is outstanding - everything is house made and delicious. We also at at the Origin restaurant for dinner and it was terrific. The toiletries are of very poor quality so we used our own. The sunscreen actually didnt work and i burned. The beach is great and a short walk. It is rocky but lovely. the beach chairs are just chairs and not lounges. downtown is a 25 minute walk or and $8/group ride in a house called taxi. The return home usually is a long wait though.

Relaxing nook in a busy beach town

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

This hotel is a sanctuary in an otherwise bustling and busy beach town. The grounds are beautiful and serene, and with a short walk to the beach the lack of ocean view is more than compensated. The food is outstanding. The service, Steven especially, is amazing and you never lack for anything. I would definitely return for the food alone. The sunsets from the beach nearby are spectacular.
