We’re family-owned and our passion shows. Cala Luna is one of the only hotels in Guanacaste, Costa Rica that remains green all year round. There are few barriers between us and nature. Open-plan spaces and secluded accommodations meld into the lush jungle that attracts more wildlife than anywhere else in the area – monkeys, raccoons, iguanas, birds, insects, and us. Within this natural retreat, we offer five-star barefoot luxury that’s open to everyone. We nourish our senses daily through delicious home-grown ingredients, gastronomic farm-to-table dinners, holistic wellness, spa therapies, and deep connection to Mother Earth. From dining with us at our homestead La Senda and walking the world’s largest labyrinth, to sipping cocktails on the beach as the sun slips over the edge of the ocean – you choose the memories to carry home. Welcome to an unforgettable experience.

Stayed for 5 nights on the last leg of our two week holiday in Costa Rica. The hotel is in a secluded area from the town of Tamarindo. The staff were very welcoming and our first room was right by the bar so we asked to change rooms and we were shown a couple of rooms to choose from. The rooms were not huge but ok for the three of us. The bathroom was amazing with a huge step in bath. All toiletries were provided even sun cream and insect repellent. The breakfasts were amazing with homemade yoghurt and granola. Eggs and pancakes were made fresh to order and the coffee was delicious. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and we would

We had our wedding at Cala Luna November 2024. The staff here was amazing, especially our favorite Sylvia (our wedding planner) and Titi at the Origen restaurant. We had to unpexpectidly move our wedding by 1 day because the airports were closed. The staff was beyond accommodating, they were able to move our wedding without problem and were so nice through the entire process. Carol, Sylvia, Titi, and all bartending/front desk staff made our trip and our wedding perfect. The property is beyond beautiful, better than any picture could show. We could not imagine a more perfect place and we will 100% be back. We went to private yoga on the property on the wedding day and I will never forget it. Could not recommend enough. The food was also top tier! Thank you Cala Luna, we will never forget you.

Traveled around Christmas with our 17 yr old daughter. Beautiful hotel. Very very friendly staff. Short walk to the beach. Waaay better than if you were closer to tamarindo proper where you are harasses by vendors and tons of people around. Tide pools (not much but hermit crabs but saw a few starfish) and lots of shells!!!!!! Shady trees and unobstructed views down beach. Stunning!!!! I think my only complaint would be that I personally disliked the breakfast. I tried a lot of things but none were appetizing in my opinion. I think a make your own huevos rancheros or pico style buffetwould have been perfect!!! But loved being able to order coffees to go! Delicious lunch! I did not try dinner. Definitely recommend renting a golf cart! So much easier to get around the town!!!! Great hotel overall and I definitely would go back!!!! Thank you Cala Luna

I planned to stay at Cala Luna on a fishing trip with my grandson. I was aware that if you do not cancel one month ahead of time you lose the full cost of the stay. I thought not being able to go would be unlikely. However, I’ve learned we can ever be sure. To ensure trip like this for cancellation for any reason would be very expensive. I spoke to the hotel about partial payment or for credit for a future trip and they were adamant that this was not possible. Requiring full pay a month before with no refund is not the usual practice and I would recommend even though this may be a nice hotel that you avoid putting yourself in this jeopardy.

My husband and I stayed at Cala Luna for two and a half days after several days in central Costa Rica. The property is serene and lovely. The focus here is wellness. I had hoped to book a spa treatment but we didn’t have time. The restaurant on site has US prices ($$$) but the food is excellent so we felt the quality matched the cost. Many fruits are grown on site or nearby and they make their own yogurt and granola. Pro-tip: the homemade lemonade is a winner! The property is not directly on the beach but there is an access point behind the property with a short walk to the beach. The beach is gorgeous with volcanic rocks visible at low tide. Many people would take blankets and snacks to watch the sun set. The pool on the property is fabulous! We stayed in a deluxe bungalow- beautiful with a comfy bed. There was a little porch with a swing and hammock. One of the three cats that live on site would visit from time to time. We were able to walk to the main intersection of Tamarindo to shop and dine. The staff was very helpful. We had a delicious dinner at Dragonfly one night and went to a local artist market one night thanks to the friendly staff. I would say this is a place for adults looking for a quiet place to unwind and relax but we saw several families and the kids seemed to enjoy being there.
