Having recently gone through a family bereavement this was my first holiday as a solo traveler. From the moment of arrival to departure my stay was flawless, the courtesy and respect from all the staff was indeed exceptional. As I needed some quite time to reflect and recharge Hotel Botanico proved the perfect location. My sea view room was perfectly maintained and serviced. The location of the hotel is ideal and the shuttle bus service excellent. Breakfast service was amazing and to see the manager keeping a finger on the pulse was most impressive. The gardens and the entire hotel is maintained beyond exception. The art installations throughout the hotel add greatly to the tranquility of the place and the jellyfish add a most relaxing feel !!! The restaurants in the hotel provide wonderful service and value for money and across the road you can find some wonderful tapas options and a very good Italian restaurant with a great family atmosphere. Concierge service was also exceptional and organised a wonderful day tour and helped with flight arrangements. I look forward to returning to this hotel that offers a high standard of service that is indeed worthy of Leading Hotel Status.

This is one of the most wonderful hotels we have ever stayed in! The staff were excellent, from portering, to reception, to serving staff. Nothing was too much trouble. We played putting, and pool, and went to the wonderful SPA, sunned ourselves at the pool, had the odd beer, walked the wonderful gardens (DO NOT MISS THE BLACK SWAN), saw the lovely plants and statues and were handed umbrellas as we walked in the light rain. It is a wonderful, wonderful hotel. Great thought has been given to all decor, from internal flower displays, to statues, to panaromic windows, with hanging birds in reception. Absolutely delightful!!

This hotel is billed as a 5* member of the leading hotels of the world brand - it may well have been - once - however it is not the case now. I can see that it has undergone some refurbishments which appear to be mainly in public areas as it certainly wasn’t the case for the room that I stayed in (259). The room was not what I had requested via email, phone and personal visit one week prior and assured I’d get and it ended up being changed three times. A request for a twin bedded room is not an unusual request. Room: I have never walked on such a thin grubby carpet in a 5 * hotel, the voiles required pressing, mini bar contained only soft drinks and beer, no wash clothes were provided until day 4 of our 7 day stay, no personal grooming kit such as toothbrushes for the duration, tile grouting in the bathroom needs renewing, Balcony had a nice view of the pool. TV channels were good. Bed was comfortable. Service: Room service ends at 11pm apparently however I never managed to get an answer when calling to the extent that I had to go downstairs to get a shot from the bar to take back to the room. Room was cleaned to a good standard however on one day in particular, the servicing agent just opened the room door to come in without checking. Food and Beverage: Breakfast was good if not rather chaotic and busy and the egg bar was very nice. Coffee was almost cold to the extent that I had to request hot water to top it up and it also seemed ‘stewed’ - I noticed that coffee jugs were transferred from table to table as guest left. No milk options such as skimmed although I did ask. We ate at the Papagallo Mediterranean restaurant on the second night which was something of a disaster. Tried to reserve a table as advised but they didn’t pick up so called Reception who also tried without success. Eventually, was told that Reception had booked a table. When I arrived at the EMPTY restaurant I was told I didn’t have a reservation- twice- but that I’d be allowed to enter anyway. We decided to eat outside and there were about 5 tables dining so obviously not busy. Food was OK but portions were very small indeed. Ordered a dessert on the advise of the restaurant manager who categorically told me it didn’t contain cream as I was very specific about it as I have an allergy. It was obvious when I got it that it contained cream when it arrived and he was extremely annoyed that I didn’t accept it. I was presented - twice - with other tables bills and when I did get the right bill it contained a charge for expresso, something I’ve never drank in my life however he was adamant that I’d ordered it to the extent I almost expect him to call me a liar. Now I accept that there was a language barrier however it is not something that I’d expect to this level in a hotel billed as a 5* international hotel. Entertainment: I’m just going to say Oh dear! And finally counterfeit goods are openly sold in the clothing shop in the hotel - Zimmerman dresses to be exact - which surprised me. When I asked about them I was told that dresses such as these would cost in excess of a thousand euros and these were only 200 euros but that no one would be able to tell. All I can say is ?! I was expecting so much more than this for what is billed as Tenerife’s finest hotel. Whilst the grounds, public areas and facilities are very good all of this is let down by the substandard service and rooms. I’d rate it as a 4* for this reason.

First of I hate giving this score. The hotel is beautiful and this was a return visit. My problem (and to alert others) is that we initially stayed 4 nights bed n breakfast in June 2023. The cost was €840. We returned and were allocated the exact same room (again bnb) for just 3 nights last month and the cost was €1244.46. I queried this twice during our stay, but I don’t like arguing about money in the public setting at reception. I have contacted the manager twice since returning but there’s no explanation or justification. Honestly I have never given a bad review before, but I feel very let down by what was my favourite hotel ever.

Hotel in general was nice. Breakfast was good and staff very friendly. Rooms were as expected from the photos older but clean. The beds were too soft for us and the bathroom was designed for a lot shorter people. View of the room was nice (4th floor spa view). Unfortunately we did expect a higher level of service from a 5 star hotel. When we arrived my husband had to park the car himself on the street and not the complimentary parking place. Also the quite unfriendly gray-haired receptionist (male) informed us that the was no dining option in any of the 4 restaurants at 21:20 in the evening even though we could clearly see empty tables, according to him “we should just get roomservice”. We went out to eat and did that for the rest of our 5 day hotel stay. Also after 1600 no drinks were served at the swimming pool, the gym only opened at 9am and cocktails were quite expensive in the bar.
