Need an amazing trip to the Carribean? Then I have an unBELIZEable place for you to go! Thatch Caye Resort. It was the most relaxing, secluded place I've ever stayed. This is not your big oceanside resort with several restaurants and pristine beaches. This is a private island that keeps things real! The service was impeccable. The food was top notch! You have a delicious breakfast that varies everyday, but has the staples: eggs to order, toast/bread, meat, coffee, tea, juice, fruit, and veggies. Lunch was something hot and tasty. Go on a Sunday, and it will be a Belizean BBQ with chicken legs and thighs, salad, beans and rice. Snacks like chips and hummus or chicken wings at 4:30, served at the Starfish Lounge. Dinner is top notch. Soup and/or salad for appetizer, main dishes like ribs, pork tenderloin, shrimp, lobster etc. Sides and delicious desserts. All meals served communal style unless the weather is bad. Shout outs to Shakira and Charlie who were attentive servers. We can't mention Thatch Caye without mentioning our phenomenal Drink Masters, Anivar and Junior. You dream it...they'll blend it. We drank more virgin pina coladas and coconut mojitos than you can count. The resort also has kayaks, paddleboards, and sailboats you can take out. You also have full access to snorkel and swim gear. The highlight of our trip was our SNORKELING! Rafi, which I've affectionately renamed, Poseidon's son, was an extraordinary guide. He knew every creature and named them. Our day snorkel we had him all to ourself and it was just the most amazing experience. It was like swimming in my own personal, fully stocked aquarium. Seeing the Spotted Eagle Ray with attached Trigger Fish was a scene right out of Moana! Then we also signed up to do a night snorkel which was a little scary at first, but we knew Rafi would take care of us. We searched and searched for an octopus and at the last minute, Rafi found one and let us hold it. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone. Even after the Tropical Storm Sara, this intimate resort stepped up and made our stay an adventure of a lifetime!

From the arrival to every moment they were needed, the crew working on the Island made every bit of the trip so amazing. Everyone was friendly, attentive, basically always looking to make sure you had a great experience. I can't think of any other time I've ever felt this great going somewhere before. If you get the chance to come to Thatch Caye I highly recommend it. Wish there was a way to give this review a higher rating than I can. Thank you to Shakira, Alvinar, Ritchie, Darwin and my man Junior! Shakira was great, kept the party going. Alvinar helped me when I had the worst acid reflux and always had a great story to tell. Junior and I shared a lot of laughs the whole time on the Island. Wish the vacation didn't have to end, but rest assured I will be making this a yearly trip. See you guys again soon! -Brent aka Diablo hahaha.

We had a wonderful time at Thatch Caye for our one year anniversary. Weather was exceptional and our excursions (fly fishing and island crawl) were great! Ritchie and his mate for the island crawl were knowledgeable about the area- had a wonderful time. The staff was kind, flexible, and attentive. Anivar at the Coco Lounge Bar made great rum cocktails. Daniel and Junior kept a great vibe at the Starfish Bar in the afternoons. We also really enjoyed Charles as a server in general, but for our private dinner we had in the little palapa. If you are a massage person- ask for Aimee- she is small, but mighty! The open air massage is a can’t miss. The island dogs- Pico and Marley add so much love to the island. Food was great- we felt it was authentic. We enjoyed Taco Tuesday, the black beans and tostones at breakfast, as well as the fry jacks. We had lots of chicken- all flavored differently- from curry to smoked. While no-see-ums (sand flies) are present, they spray morning and night. They were really only pests at dawn and dusk. The resort had bug spray, but we brought essential oils and bug wipes as well. We stayed in a premier overwater bungalow. Nice and private. Our porch was warmer in the morning, but as the day went on the wind shifts around the island and the afternoon is nice to relax out there. We saw manatees and small rays daily. Bed was super comfortable and we loved waking up to the sunrise.

We really enjoyed our stay at Thatch Caye! We loved the uniqueness and intimacy of the resort and that we got the chance to know some of the staff. Daniel and Junior were a blast behind the bar and Richie and Darvin were super knowledgeable when it came to snorkeling and hunting lobsters. We did 3 separate excursions with them and each one was fantastic. Luis made sure we were welcomed and that all of the logistics ran smoothly for our transfers. And lastly…we loved the dogs, Marley and Pico!

If you want a unique all-inclusive experience then Thatch Caye is the place. It was the most peaceful, fun, and intimate all-inclusive stay my wife and I have ever had. Exceptional staff and I wish I had everyone’s name and hope I spell others correctly but Luis, Anivar, Junior, the chefs, the masseuses, other bartenders, wait staff, boat crews, etc… go out of their way to give you genuine personal service. Luis knows all guests’ names and it is truly an “ask and they will accommodate” relationship. I can go on and on but I’ll just say that Thatch Caye and Belize in general are both on our revisit list!
