Take the trip

My only complaint about our trip to Thatch Caye is that I wish it could have been longer. Staff are so friendly and make you feel at home. The island is beautiful, food is amazing. They were so accommodating with changing our activity days and so helpful with managing our flights. The guides who took us snorkeling, to the ruins, and cave tubing were all great. Can’t say enough good things about our stay!

Unique, magical island in paradise!

We had the best time at Thatch Caye! We went for our honeymoon, and could not have imagined anything better. The service is top notch. Transportation to and from the island was always smooth, and planning our week was very easy. The staff are genuinely friendly, helpful and fun. They really make you feel comfortable and want you to have the best time. During our 5 night stay particularly - Jackson and Aniver were always there and helped us to have the best stay. We came in mid January and had great weather. It was very hot day and night - which felt awesome in winter for two people from Pennsylvania. It only rained one evening and then on and off one day. When there isn’t a breeze- you definitely need bug spray, but if there is a breeze the sand fleas aren’t bad. The resort is BEAUTIFUL. Wherever you are - you have a view of the ocean. The water is crystal clear and there are so many ways to enjoy it - be it from a hammock on your deck, a lounge chair on the beach, swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking or snorkeling. There is a lot to see snorkel wise just around the perimeter of the island. It’s amazing to see all the fish, sting rays, and starfish- they have plenty of snorkel gear available for you to use. They also have bikes- which is a fun way to get around the island. Everything is very well maintained, while also feeling rustic. The intimate vibe of the island is truly special. We had a cool group of guests who stayed the majority of the time with us and it was nice to chat and hear everyone’s stories at the communal meals. The meals were all delicious and fresh - so were the drinks. We did have one private dinner our last night - and really enjoyed the service Charles provided. He made us feel very special and it was nice to mix it up after communal meals the other days of the week. The overwater bungalow was a dream. One of our favorite things to do was just lay on our hammock anytime of day and enjoy the private, tranquil environment surrounded by the water. You can see a ton of stars at night and wake up to beautiful sunrises. The king size bed was super nice and the bungalow was very comfortable and unique. You really get a good bang for your buck! Definitely recommend doing a massage! The ladies we had gave the best massage I’ve ever had and the setting at serenity point is magical. Pure relaxation. We also really enjoyed our excursion at the Mayan ruins and cave tubing the one day. It was a long day- but we enjoyed seeing more of Belize than just our little island. And our guide - Selvan was the best! Lastly- the island dogs! Marley and Pico are so cute and welcoming. They really add to the cute vibe of the island. They love to go paddle boarding with you and they just made me smile every time I saw them. There is no place better to be- than Thatch Caye! We can’t wait to return.

The Thatch!!!

If you love the water and don’t like crowded resorts this is the place. Perfect spot between the mainland and the Great Barrier Reef. Excellent service provided by a cool, kind-hearted staff. Top notch local fare including food and drink. Successful lobster and fishing excursions can feed the resort for dinner.

A custom and incredibly curated experience! The staff and resort of Thatch Caye is simply the best.

Thatch Caye was an amazing experience! A 1 mile private island with just the resort was truly an oasis. The best parts of our trip were the people and the experiences they curated. The staff was INCREDIBLY amazing - kind, accommodating, and became truly like friends over the course of our 5 day stay. The food was delicious - farm to table and so fresh. The awesome experiences ranged from making liquid sugar cane, snorkeling, kayaking the entire island (with the resort dogs included!) and our favorite was the island hop where we saw manatees and other remote areas. Fun evening with other resort guests/turned friends with karaoke and beachside Jenga. There are quite a few different types of rooms - ensure to look through them to select the best options that suit your needs/wants. Thank you, Thatch Caye, for making our first experience in Belize so memorable! We cannot wait to come back.
