Mandarin Oriental Tokyo

They put me in the noisiest room I ever stayed in. Constant banging and drumming from above. All night long. Also breakfast was chaotic with a huge crowd and overwhelmed waiters. Everyone can get free breakfast by joining the MO Club. It was like a zoo.

We were constantly discovering delightful surprises during our stay - from the complimentary afternoon tea service to the curated local art collection throughout the property. The staff seemed to know exactly when to appear and when to give space. The room's layout was incredibly thoughtful, with plenty of USB ports and a proper workspace.

There’s no question that this is a beautiful hotel in a great location with exceptional service. We stayed in a suite which was perfectly appointed but felt old fashioned in decor with huge televisions blocking the spectacular views etc. the bar area also felt tired compared to the Aman for example and we encountered ‘differences’ over what amounted to casual attire. All dealt with well however. The breakfast was superb.

I had high hopes for this stay, and unfortunately was left disappointed. If it cost half as much, I probably would’ve loved it. But when you’re paying a premium price you expect a premium experience and it didn’t live up to that for me. The rooms are in desperate need of a renovation. Wood and furniture worn and scuffed everywhere. Dated design. Even the base rooms are large enough so that was nice. Expansive views of the city from one side of the hotel, the other mostly just sees other skyrises and a construction site. Spa was underwhelming and didn’t have a pool which would’ve been nice. The hot tubs weren’t that hot. Concierge seemed overwhelmed and was hit and miss. Major delays in response time pre-trip. They weren’t able to help with most of my exclusive restaurant and bar requests. They did surprise me with one reservation when I wasn’t able to get it online. The restaurants and bar were great. If you can get into pizza bar don’t miss the 3rd best pizza restaurant in the world. Breakfast buffet was too busy some of the days. Service was nice but when we had problems it didn’t seem like they cared. Most of the staff seemed very young. I ultimately had to escalate my issues to management and my travel agent which is the last thing I want to do on vacation, once that happened it at least felt like they tried to make it right.

I stayed at the Hotel Mandarin Oriental with my mum and dad for the purpose to see Tree and enjoy our trip in Tokyo. Truth be told, I'm so thankful to managers and others employers. They made my residence here so magic and comfortable for us! Moreover, they're so smiley and uniased employers, indeed. Btw, guys. I didn't say that operator Mr. Yoshie served me in WhatsApp Chat. If you're an introvert like me , it would be more comfortable for you! Thank you , sir! You're super and highly professional operator and you do your job as swift as a wind. Thank you!
