Fairmont Royal York

Wonderful experience. We did a short stay to visit family and it felt like a mini vacation. Comfortable beds, high degree of cleanliness both in our room and in the common areas . Decor stayed true to the original aesthetic and was especially eye catching in the lobby bar.

I stayed at the Royal York for a night this week. The location is fantastic- just across from Union Station and connected to the PATH network. I arrived way ahead of check in time (around 11am) to drop my bags off but was delighted to find a room was available so I was able to check in early. The lobby, complete with the famous clock tower is beautiful and the library bar was a fantastic place for a drink. I wish they'd still do proper drinks vouchers instead of using the ALL app though. The fitness centre and pool were also excellent although the controls for the steam room and sauna weren't very responsive. All the staff- receptionists, bar staff, pool attendants and the concierge- were lovely and always happy to assist. My room, however, was less good. It was the smallest room I've ever stayed in at a Fairmont dated and had little in the way of amenities. It was difficult to get the temperature to stay at a comfortable level, there were just two warm boxes of water and only the absolute basics in terms of toiletries. The corridors, whilst nicely decorated, were showing their age and felt a bit soulless. Overall, the Royal York has all the makings of a great hotel, but the room just didn't hit the mark so I wouldn't be inclined to stay again when you can get a better room for far less money elsewhere.

I have had two wonderful solo introspective getaways at this hotel, which is my favorite in Toronto. The service across all areas is excellent, and the decorations for both Christmas and Valentine's Day are stunning and photo-worthy. Additionally, I appreciate the abundance of fresh floral arrangements throughout the property. Notable staff members include: 1. **Alp (Front Desk)**: Provided a welcoming and polite check-in experience, collaborating with Guest Relations to ensure a lovely fruit arrival amenity. 2. **Jerico (Front Desk)**: Addressed several requests at the desk promptly and consistently provided a friendly presence. 3. **Terry (Bartender)**: Created exceptional drinks and was incredibly friendly, making my evenings enjoyable. 4. **Taruna (Bar Hostess)**: Displayed kindness and routinely checked in on me throughout my stay, regardless of whether I was dining at her outlet. 5. **Nazir (Front Desk)**: Offered a warm and memorable farewell experience, leaving me with a great impression of the hotel. 6. **Joe (Bartender)**: Responded to several requests with exceptional kindness, helpfulness, and accommodation. 7. **Josefina (Housekeeping)**: A delightful conversationalist who assisted me with several extra items I needed; she truly enhanced my stay. Thank you all for the wonderful experience.

Our ALL rewards level entitles us to a welcome drink. But they've stopped giving out the vouchers, and the only way you can get a welcome drink is if you have a smart phone with their app. Why are some silver members not good enough for the amenities promised at that level?

Fantastic stay! Very clean and great location! The staff here are amazing especially Josh the bartender! Highly recommended this hotel. I mean you really can’t go wrong with a Fairmont (except for the ones in Edmonton and Winnipeg). White robes and luxury accommodations and the best!
