Reviews for The Yorkville Royal Sonesta Hotel Toronto

Home away from home

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This hotel truly felt like a home away from home. I stayed here for two weeks with my daughters while my apartment was undergoing repairs for a water leak. The accommodations were wonderful, the service was exceptional and the staff’s warmth made our stay both enjoyable and comfortable during a very stressful time. The front desk team went above and beyond to meet our needs, often exceeding our expectations. Special thanks to Aline at Reception for her kindness and attentiveness. Thank you for everything!

Terrible front desk service.

Booked for one night, specifically asked for a room away from the elevator. Arrived early, room not ready no problem, stored our bags, they said should be ready at 1:30. Came back at 2:30. Not ready. Waited until 4:00 still not ready so gave us a room right beside the elevator. Terrible service. They made us wait that whole time and knew the room would not be ready.

Our best stay during 2-week trip

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

We drove from Niagara Falls, Ontario to this property. Because of the traffic congestion, the estimated time of arrival was longer than expected. It was worth the wait as this is the best stay on this family trip. We were there only 2 nights. It is also the most expensive, but the fabulous breakfast was included. The hot breakfast buffet was the best yet. The hot dishes included two types of eggs, poached and lightly scrambled (not overcooked). This, plus two types of sausages, chicken and pork, were accompanied by fresh-squeezed OJ. I sneaked clementine oranges to my room. Finally, we could look forward to breakfast. As most reviews mention, the location could not be better. I judge the level of my satisfaction by the availability of coffee before the breakfast opening. Cheap coffees were found at Tim Horton's, Circle K, and McDonalds. Across the street is the Yorkville campus of Univ of Toronto -- well-maintained, leafy, and safe. Also across the street is the iconic ROM (Royal Ontario Museum). The only niggle came at the time of check-out when we were told by one of front desk personnel that only 2 breakfasts allowed per room. That discrepancy was resolved.

Fine hotel, fat pillows but thinners ones may be available if you ask

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

The hotel is nice, front desk staff is friendly and helpful, and it is close to the University and the lovely Annex neighborhood, although Bloor isn't that nice west of the hotel. The beds were a little soft, but not terribly. The pillows, however, were very fat and hurt my neck and upper back. If you stay there and find the pillows uncomfortable, ask at the front desk for some thinner pillows. They did have some, which were still a little fat for my tastes but much better than the pillows that were in the room.

Wonderful Experience at the Yorkville Royal Sonesta

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Yorkville Royal Sonesta Hotel. Special thanks to Claire, Paina, and Thomasina for their exceptional service and for making us feel so welcome. The interior decor was charming and quickly became one of our favorites. Our room was spacious, quiet, and immaculate, with a bed that was incredibly comfortable. The overall experience was fantastic, and I would definitely return.
