Someone Stole my Wallet!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Disappointing! Stole my credit card wallet. Did a room change and it was left behind and the room was immediately cleaned and not turned in. Created a great deal of inconvenience for us. Front desk was concerned, but did nothing! As for the rest, also disappointing. The rooms are very small for a place where there is immense land. The rooms are dated. This is not a camping hotel or a refuge. This is a high priced luxury hotel but features inexpensive facilities. The gym has almost no equipment other than two running machines and dumbells. The spa is just ok, a bit outdated. Breakfast is good. Dining is not luxury as you order from a bar code, no table cloths. But high prices. Asked for some broccoli at dinner as I saw it on the buffet at breakfast, they refused to make any for me. A very meat oriented menu. Friendly staff, but strict on rules, they need to learn the differance between accommodate and regiment!

Good Ammenities With A Longer Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Great hotel location near one of the entrances to Torres Del Paines. After a long day in the Park, we checked in and found that dinner was available at 9pm seating or at the bar. There are many activities available if you’re content with a leisure, slow pace to viewing the Park. We were on a time crunch so had minimal time to enjoy the spa (massages were all booked) and eat/drink. Probably a better stay if you’re there for 3 night minimum.

Professional and nigh-on perfect

Large, well established hotel in a gorgeous setting. We enjoyed two nights here, dining in both the downstairs bar and the first floor restaurant. The ground floor room was nicely arranged given a lack of space, and we enjoyed the horse riding on our last morning. The trips are well organised, and we were able to perform a late substitution with ease.

Gorgeous location, great service, some restaurant challenges.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The location is gorgeous although the hotel itself, at least from the outside, is large and somewhat impersonal and incongruous with the landscape. The front desk staff, the Massif staff, housekeeping and bar folks downstairs were extremely helpful. The restaurant is a bit of a mess, at least for dinner. We had reservations the first night, only to be turned away because "they were crowded with a big group." The food is hit or miss - my wife was presented with a burned entree, and my steak was just not great quality. We were on the "full board/all included" package which likely doesn't incent them spending for quality ingredients. The breakfasts are very nice with a variety of rotating offerings. The spa is very nice with a quality pool, great saunas, and relaxation areas. We didn't partake of massages or treatments. It's not particularly easy to get to locations inside TdP from the hotel if you drive yourself - we had a rental pickup and the roads in the park are largely dirt/gravel and the many tourist transport vans are in a hurry to get past you. We loved the horses outside the back windows in the afternoon and the variety of birds that came to visit. I think overall it was a good compromise between spending a fortune at Explora or similar and trying to do TdP on the cheap. I'd do it again.

Rio Serrano Hotel & Spa - Fabulous hotel in a stunning location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Set iust outside one of the entry points to the torres del paine national park this hotel is very well situated for access to iconic walks, e.g. the base towers. With horses roaming the extensive grounds and absolutely stunning views of the mountains you're off to a good start. The rooms are very good, spacious well appointed bathroom with a comfortable bed. Plenty of food choices at the ground floor bar and upper floor formal dining room. Service is excellent and the staff are a credit to the hotel. The packed lunches are also very good - highly recommend the beef sandwich option :) Try the Spa out if you have time, the massages are very good. Did have a minor medical issue which guest relations was extremely helpful resolving - another tick for the hotel Having said all this, the bottom line is you are here to get into the National Park, not hang around the hotel (which you could easily do..) but after a long hard day hike this is the place to be. Just book it, you won't regret it.
