Reviews for Trump Turnberry

Immaculate and Excellent Staff and Service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

The resort is immaculate, staff were top drawer, stayed in the cottages for the first time and will definitely be back, some work going on upgrading the Ailsa Course, and you thought they couldn’t better it 🤷, a fantastic hotel with diligent, attentive staff and nice to see the equal opportunities policy in full use with young Robert, I think at Breakfast, a fine gentleman and trying really hard to do everyone for the visitors. Well done Trump team 100% effort

Avoid until the hotel reboots itself….

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

This was our fourth stay at Trump Turnberry, and sadly possibly our last for quite some time ahead. The hotel itself remains an incredible place to make family memories with great access to the beach, walks to the lighthouse, golf (for those that do!) and outdoor activities. We love the air gun shooting and have a family competition on each visit which has always delivered some great family moments to cherish for the future. This year the support team went a little further and gave my son the incredible opportunity to shot off a few rounds of clay pigeon shooting as well - which he absolutely adored. In our long term experience the staff at Trump are ultimate professionals each with an incredible sense for delivering personal touch quality. Although I have to say that during this stay the professionalism remains but the quality has definitely dropped substantially. To give two of many examples: (1) during our £200+ dinner at the 1906 fine dinning restaurant on the first night. After our dinner order was taken our starters came before the bread and the amuse bouche, the bread and the amuse bouche was then provided after I asked for it. The cutlery was only set for the starter which meant that after we had finished the amuse bouche the waiting staff thought we had finished our dinner. It was only when I asked for cutlery that the dinner was then called forward and provided. But 20 mins later than people sitting around us who had come in 20 to 30 mins after us. No apologies, in fact no interest by staff in checking on our table during the entire meal. (2) bottled water is not being replenished. On our second day we ask at reception to replenish our water bottles 5 times in 6 hours. But the hotel never did replenish these water bottles. You might feel this is a little bit of an over privileged picky. For me it’s not, I have a heart condition which worsens with dehydration and therefore why we have a deep desire to have plentiful water available in the room. As a 5 star hotel Trump Turnberry has always previously provided bottled water, and staff continue to insist water bottles will be delivered shortly. (I’m sure this won’t happen so we’ll be popping to the local corner shop to buy some water….). How can it be that Trump Turnberry with such a great location, with such passionate and friendly staff who deeply desire to make the customer’s experience a delight, have dropped in quality so quickly? I feel deeply sad to write this review as front of house staff, bar staff, outdoor activities staff, and cleaning staff are all genuinely highly professional and at great asset to the hotel. But poor processes are letting down this incredible team.

Luxurious and yet disappointing

We stayed here in mid December to celebrate my wife’s birthday. This was not our first visit as we were impressed by the hotel standard two years earlier. The hotel is certainly a visually stunning building situated on a hill overlooking the sea. The welcome into the hotel and the check in experience are first class, as would be expected in a hotel of this standard. However, after that, we felt things went a little downhill. Our room was stunning, with a wonderful view over the Clyde towards Ailsa Craig. The room was a great size and had a nice large bathroom. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. We were disappointed to find the room was colder than expected and a stand alone electric fan had been put into the room to boost the heat, which it marginally achieved due to the size of the room. We had been told the hotel had been fully closed the day before so maybe the heating was off. The normal room heating vent was pushing out warm, but not hot, air but not significantly enough and the room heating controls had no effect. The bathroom was equally disappointing: there were no amenities at the washbasin, only one bar of soap. The drawers at the sink unit were empty - no shower caps, sewing kits, hand washes, skin creams - as you would normally expect in a five star hotel. The shower cubicle only had a shampoo container, but no body wash. We used the pool area. It was very nice and clean and plenty towels available. The vents on the floor beside the windows were pushing out cool air which made the area a little chilly. Nevertheless the pool area was relaxing and very sunny and was fine if you sat away from the windows. Dinner and breakfast were nice with plenty choice to suit most people. I guess we will visit again as my wife is a particular fan of the hotel, but I think I would prefer summer instead of winter.

Glitzy

Booked an overnight as a treat for partner. From arrival with the valet parking through reception to the room the staff outstanding. The room well furnished, gynormo Telly, and large bathroom with classy toiletries, heated floor quality robes and towelling. The drinks in the bar beware, a glass of wine £18.00, our total bill for two drinks each was £62.00 At the restaurant had good vibes Dwayne was ever so helpful and the fixed price menu good value, staff again make the moment, the only downside is desserts should be left to be what they are, rather than rejigging them Wine strangely priced fairly, although a bottle of Petrus would set u back £7000, a bit too rich for myself. On departure the staff could not not have been more helpful, especially Stuart at the door

Tunberry in Feb

Facilities very good , service acceptable but on the slow side of expectations. Tea took 15 minutes each morning and was asked for twice. I was disappointed with the 1906 restaraunt for the following reasons had one lunch and two dinners. Food was adequate but nothing special and the menu did not change in the three nights we could have had dinner there. What makes Gleneagles and other high end golf resorts special , there is always a restaraunt of Michelin star quality. Especially at weekends. Turnberry has the room to put on a quality evening restaurant. Also if you are not going to other nightly menus that change you should at least offer nightly specials. Staff very friendly and helpful.
