Reviews for RAAS Devigarh

Amazing stay, some minor issues.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 months ago

The property itself is spectacular, no doubt about it! The grounds are beautifully maintained, the rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean. Thoughtful touches are everywhere… from the welcome drink (open bar); daily room snacks; sunscreen by the pool; incense sticks in the room; and a truly tailored experience. The staff are lovely and engaging. There are however a couple of downsides, which would be easy to fix. The air conditioning is getting old, and would not go below the pre-set 22 degrees. While we were told this during the room tour, it meant the room was always quite humid. The second was the food! Surprisingly it was pretty hit and miss. Some dishes were good. Some average. Some below average. None were stand-out or spectacular. We ordered a chicken curry one night and of the four pieces of chicken, it was mostly bone and gristle. Could hardly eat it. (We asked for it boneless the second night and it was much better!) Absolutely this is an amazing hotel, and a ‘must do’. But it loses a 5/5 rating because of the food and air conditioning issues. By the way… there are resident turtles, and the staff will happily prepare some cucumber slices while you’re at breakfast so you can go down and feed them. A highlight of the stay!

Blissful Fort Property

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 months ago

Yet another Raas gem. Devigarh has been fabulously restored in a small village near Udaipur. An absolute delight to hang around their pool or at the bar or the many nooks around the palace. Service by every staff member was fantastic, specially the wait staff at the restaurants. The food was also very good. Every meal we ate was top notch. Our suite however felt a bit dated and cold. But besides the room, everything at the Raas Devigarh was very good

Not just a hotel - an experience…

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 months ago

One of the most amazing hotels we’ve ever stayed in. This fort / palace traces its origins back 450 years and the restoration has preserved all the original architecture and history whilst providing an exquisite 5 star hotel experience. The service is impeccable and the staff are always friendly. There are wonderful views across the mountains that you can enjoy. And the hotel has its own cocktails that are made for you by expert mixologists using ingredients from the garden. There are many ‘hidden’ courtyards and places to relax on different levels, as well as a wonderful pool area, and as the hotel has only 34 rooms you often feel like you have the place to yourself. Don’t bother staying in one of the big impersonal chain hotels on Lake Pichola - stay here and take the hotel car to Udaipur to do the tours. You won’t be disappointed.

The Most Spectacular Palace Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 months ago

Now, this is a palace! The conversion from a palace to a hotel took a long time, there was lots of rubble. But it was worth it, such a magical place, so many beautiful space to explore. A stategic setting on the hill top above the village of Delwara. walking in the gates you know you are in a very special place. The views are amazing across the village and the surrounding hills. Room 36 had to be THE best room in the palace. A large corner room with a private patio and fountain, spacious entry way, beautifl room with lots of windows and a small balcony, huge tub area, large counter space and views everywhere. I could stay here a while. Very comfy bed. the only disadvantage was the 5 am call to prays, but we close the windows the next night. Pool area, bar and dining were excellent. I highly recommnd taking the place tour, it gives you the idea of how big the palace is, the restoration project, and all the nooks and crannies. The old art work is spectacular. Explore the colorful villge of Delwara, street markets, water pump, temples and smiling faces.
