Perfect Wine Country Stay

Very beautiful stay in the old monastery. Extremely comfortable and very authentic. The restoration and transformation is remarkable and the spa is a delight – particularly the private water circuit adjacent to the large pool. Excellent service. Already planning a return.

Best stay in Ribera del Duero

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 9 months ago

The hotel and the whole experience is absolutely amazing! Everything breathes nobility and five dtar service while you are at the hotel. The rooms are perfect! The spa is second to none! The visit to the church inside the hotel feels exclusive and the church itself is remarkably beutiful. The breakfast is vast and delicious. One of the best monents - if not THE best - of a week travel along Ribera del Duero and Rioja. Do not hesitate to book this uotel if you are in the region! Half the cost of its five star contender “Marques de Riscal” in Rioja, double the fun, quality, enchantment and service!

Amazing Stay at a Charming Historic Monastery

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed July 3, 2023

My husband and I were on a road trip around “La Rioja” and “Ribera del Duero” and we choose the Castilla Termal Monasterio de Valbuena, based on the proximity to some of the wineries we wanted to visit and based on the reviews. We are very glad we made this choice, it was an amazing stay, not only the hotel is in this charming monastery but the rooms are fully renovated to make you feel extremely comfortable, while enjoying the historic building. The room was very spacious, the bed super comfortable and they offer a pillows’ menu for you to select what makes your night sleep the best; taking a shower or using the bathtub was very pleasant as well. The “termal” offers all kind of relaxing water massages in a large pool for you to go through the different options to relax your body. And their restaurant was a highlight, we enjoyed an amazing dinner and daily breakfast was incredible, lots of options, delicious food and great service. Their house wine, which is made by a small winery, close to the hotel, from grapes grown in their own vineyard, was just spectacular, I wish I could buy it in the US :) Overall, a great experience that we highly recommend!

Proper 5 star hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed June 10, 2023

This is a proper 5 star hotel. Excellent service and amenities- the bottle of wine and cheese board waiting in the room is a great touch. Lovely spa and the breakfast is truly excellent. We had the tasting menu in the restaurant and I thought that was ok - not as amazing as I expected compared to the rest of the experience.

Center of Ribera del Duero wine region

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed May 31, 2023

A beautiful and peaceful place to stay as a home base in the Ribera Del Duero region of Spain. We stayed here 3 nights as we explored the wine region. Our room was spacious and well appointed. King size bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was also very large with a deep soaking tub and separate shower area. We had a wonderful breakfast each day which was included in our room rate. The breakfast included buffet items as well as made to order options. Everything was fresh and delicious. We had 2 evening meals. One in Converso and one in the Bodegas (cellar). Both were excellent with great service. Their wine, Converso, is a great option for a bottle or glass. We also enjoyed the thermal waters spa which was relaxing and medicinal. We also enjoyed a massage in the spa which was fabulous! Make an appointment for the thermal waters and the spa as soon as you arrive as space fills up fast. We loved the location of this property as it was located in the middle of the wine region and it made our visits to wineries during the day very convenient. The farthest winery was about 30 minutes away but most were within 15/20 minute drive. There was only one other restaurant in this village but after a quick visit there chose not to eat there. There is also a small shop across the street where you can get basic supplies and items if you are traveling by car and wanted some drinks or snacks. Special note: We happened to visit during Spain's "Labor Day" of May 1 which was a Monday. As such, we discovered that 'Labor Day' in Spain Is actually celebrated for an entire week which means nothing was open the entire time we were there except the wineries we had appointments with and hotels. Thankfully our hotel had everything we needed but keep this in mind if you travel anywhere in Spain the week of the Spanish Labor Day holiday which is always May 1.
