Known for its healing and protective properties, quartz provides the bedrock of El Santuario Resort & Spa. Built atop a quartz mountain, this splendid retreat is just two hours from Mexico City in central Mexico, but its atmosphere invites you to leave the world behind. Within this unique enclave, you will find a series of soothing installations, including the Swan Plaza, symbolizing rebirth, and Water Pond, representing a bridge between the physical and spiritual world. Arranged to suggest a waterfall, the suites are crafted to promote harmony, beginning with a calming fountain beside each bed.

Location is amazing. Hotel territory is also nice and beautiful. And it's a shame that all that is ruined by terrible room, which costs 450 USD per night and includes really noise inside pool which you can't really sleep around with. The room is kinda old and has no AC. And the restaraunt - the service is so slow, the food is just MEH and came cold. But the location is just stunning. Too bad the room and service make it so I won't return.

The Spa is marvelous, and Joab provides excellent service. Sweden Massage is highly recommended. In the end, the tea was delicious. The view from the Spa is astonishing. Maybe the pool can be cleaned for the guests. Prices are competitive.

Stunning location, beautiful room, great value. A few things to know, however. There is really no way to get here from Mexico City without a car. This means you either drive yourself (as a total gringo with no Spanish, we weren't doing that) or take an Uber or taxi arranged by the hotel, which is what we did. Around $150 each way. Also, practically nobody spoke English. And usually that meant nobody. We got by with Google translate and sign language. However, I would have expected for an upscale hotel, all the staff would speak some English. Just be ready for this. Also, the massage was great - but at the end, when I headed back to my room, they came running after me asking me to pay. I had not brought my credit card, and they followed me to my room! Definitely unusual! (I guess they are not familiar with the concept of a "card on file.") Food was mediocre, and both my husband and I wound up with Montezuma's Revenge. Who knows what caused it - pool water, ice, raw vegetables. That's always a risk. Not necessarily the hotel's fault. But the restaurant location overlooking the lake and pools is gorgeous. We had the place to ourselves. We were there on a Monday and Tuesday, and there were barely any other guests.

This resort is truly one of a kind, built in harmony with nature. The views are simply stunning, but what truly sets it apart is the exceptional staff. We felt genuinely welcomed and cared for throughout our stay. Marlene, in particular, greeted us with the warmest smile and made us feel right at home. She anticipated our every need, making our stay unforgettable. Her hospitality alone is reason enough to return. Next time, we won’t stay just a day; we’ll be back for a longer visit. Thank you so much for an incredible experience!

We booked a relaxing two night stay at Santuario to kickstart a birthday weekend for my wife's 40th. Hoping to relax in nature and take it easy before heading to bustling Mexico City, we were confronted with a wedding party that blasted music on the lakefront until 1am on our first night. We were not warned about the wedding party, still allowed to book this "peaceful" getaway, and then when we complained about the noise were offered a room change at 10:30pm. The following morning when I made my complaints known to the staff and requested the night's rate refunded, we were offered free breakfast. The breakfast was great and I was about to let the whole experience go, but then we were given a bill at breakfast. We brushed it off, put on our swimsuits, and took the day to relax by the pool - which was filled with garbage and confetti from the previous night's wedding. It remained that dirty until we left on Monday afternoon, complete with an empty bottle of tequila and two glasses that a member of the wedding party left on the deck that remained there until we left two days later. I wanted to love this place, but after spending a small fortune to be treated like nuisances, the only thing I loved was the view.
