Grand Hotel Excelsior

The welcome team were excellent. We arrived at 11 and the room wouldn’t be ready until 15.00. They had a welcome drink awaiting us and check in was smooth and efficient. We were told to leave our luggage with the concierge and we headed to the pool knowing they would text us when the room was ready which they did. The area around the pool is lovely, overlooking the harbour. Staff were attentive. Cocktails good and the spicy wedges were to die for! Our room , 314, was spacious with a lovely lobby.Bed was very comfortable and extra pillows were provided on request. View over the harbour kept us fascinated. Breakfast was wonderful. Thank you Marita, Paul, and Gina for the provision of Imqaret!,, I LOVE these date pastries and they made them for us! Over and above the call of duty!!! Thank you! Housekeeping did a sterling job. If you wish to visit Valletta and local historical sites this is an excellent hotel to stay in. 10 minute walk into Valletta Republic Street (although I still like to call it Kingsway!) So much to see and do! St. Elmo’s fort, Casa Rocco Piccola, St John Co Cathedral, Grandmaster’s Palace, Barraka gardens (Upper and lower), etc. We wanted to see Ghar Dalam, (huge cave), Blue Grotto with boat tour and Hagar Qim & Mnajdra Qim temples which predate the pyramids! Ask the concierge and voila! It is done! 4 hour tour with the lovely Peter Paul 125 euros! Bargain! You can tailor your tour by talking to the concierge. The exclusive tours of Malta brochure can be tailored to your wants and needs. Last year we stayed at the Weston Dragonara which was also a lovely hotel. The vibe is a little different. I would sat that the Westin is a little more international, the staff are more laid back but I liked the Excelsior. The staff were never in your face nor too stuffy but achieved the right balance between familiarity and professionalism. If I were visiting Valletta I would come here again!

My sister and I recently stayed at the Grand Hotel Excelsior located in Floriana for one night in September, and it was a solo turtle fantastic. From the moment we arrived, the staff was absolutely warm and welcoming, especially the Guest Relations; Janette Tuite. She is compassionate and goes out of her way to help. Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated and the view was impeccable. Would definitely recommend!!

Absolutely fantastic stay! From the moment we arrived at the Grand Hotel Excelsior, the staff made us feel welcome and valued. The check-in process was smooth, and our room was stunning—spacious, impeccably clean, and with breathtaking view of the sea and the outdoor pool. The amenities were top-notch, especially the pool and spa, which provided the perfect relaxation. We also enjoyed the on-site restaurant, where the food was delicious and the service was impeccable. If you’re looking for a luxurious getaway with outstanding service, this is the place to be!!

We liked everything about this hotel. Staff were pleasant and friendly. Location was perfect with a short walk of 10mins to Valetta. (It was an uphill route which would be hard for low mobility guests.) The bus station was about 6mins away which gave access to the rest of Malta. We did however buy a weeks bus pass for 25 Euros each which gave you endless travel on the local buses. The Weds night Maltese Buffet night was particularly good and gave us the chance to sample traditional Maltese food. It is a very attractive hotel to look at both internally and externally. The outside rear area was very pleasant having an harbourside outlook, which is not easy to find in Malta Valletta itself which was on the doorstep was great to walk round with narrow bustling streets full of inviting bars and cafes. All in all a memorable 5 days holiday in a super hotel.

A beautiful hotel, elegantly dated .great view from the 7th floor. The staff is super friendly. Stunning entrance with 2 beautiful stair case and a fabulous chandelier Great views from the pool with a mini beach area On the day of my birthday , I was treated to a cake and a bottle of wine with a card, that was soooo thoughtful I loved it ️ Will definitely visit again. Thank you to the staff.
