When it debuted at the height of the Roaring Twenties, Rosewood Hotel Georgia established itself as the Canadian destination for entertainment royalty. Marlene Dietrich showed up with 40 of her suitcases, John Wayne sauntered over the threshold, and Bing Crosby topped a never-ending list of headline entertainers. British Columbia’s top radio station, CKWX, broadcasted from the penthouse for more than a decade. Today, after a 2011 renovation, old-world touches still glimmer in a thoroughly modern hotel, a revival of the Golden Age of Travel. There’s a funky, mosaic-tiled indoor pool and a gourmet room service menu that serves late into the night (you can thank Audrey Hepburn’s list of demands for that one).

We recently stayed one night at the rosewood in two rooms before heading to Whistler. We had the deluxe king rooms. We had one kid in the grandparents room on a rollaway and one in our room in a crib. The bathroom was quite large so the crib fit comfortable in there with ample space to move around. We liked the location of the hotel. The lobby bar was bumping when we arrived Friday at 5 pm so seemed like a cool spot to hang with live music. Our kids used the indoor pool the next morning to great delight. The breakfast was lovely. I found the room to be good as well. They are good size so it had a small couch and chairs. What made this experience extra enjoyable was the staff. There’s a wonderful woman that works the front door for seating in the restaurant and lounge that was so kind to our kids. She brought them drawing books and crayons. She was so sweet and told us they were not a bother as they roamed around the lobby while we ate (also adjacent to the lobby so had eyes on them). Her name escapes me but I believe she’s a preschool teacher too. All the breakfast staff were lovely and attentive. The bellhop guys were great. Arrived quickly to bring luggage and retrieve it. I believe it was Robert who was so helpful when our private shuttle to Whistler showed up and it was too small for our crew so he helped us formulate a new plan. He suggested we take the kids to the science center and he would make sure all the bags got loaded onto the new shuttle they were sending in an hour and then he’d send the new shuttle to get us. That worked out flawlessly and saved us from dealing with two antsy kids in the lobby for an hour+. We felt like that staff went above and beyond in little ways and it didn’t go unnoticed.

Over ten years later, we came back to the Hotel Georgia for a night. We stayed on an AMEX FHR rate which included a $100 property credit, complimentary breakfast, and a room upgrade. Let's start with the good - the lobby bartenders are some of the best I have encountered. Great conversation, excellent drinks, and we got a very good vibe from sitting there. The room was very clean, well appointed, and the bed was very comfortable. The turndown service was appreciated and we both liked having a proper Nespresso machine in the room. Despite facing the street and being on a lower floor, noise was not an issue. Front desk staff, just like last time, was very professional and aimed to please. Luckily, the not-so-great was mostly small things. We are now two for two on problems with the reservation while staying here. They had charged us the nightly rate despite having prepaid for the room through American Express. Last time it was an incorrect departure date. This was corrected quickly although it makes me wonder why this is a recurring problem here. Breakfast took over an hour from sitting down to getting the check, which felt too long to me. The front desk wasn't able to break a $20 bill, which I wanted to do to tip the valet, bell staff, and housekeeping staff. Nobody carries cash anymore so for tipping I'm reliant on hotels being able to break larger bills from ATMs I visit while traveling. I guess I ended up being a very generous tipper on this trip. Overall, a very nice stay at Hotel Georgia. I would stay here again.

Wonderful stay. I recommend it, it is real 5 star hotel. Design is very classy and fire place with real fire in the lobby. Staff is very helpful and polite. I’ll had issue with my Visa cards, it took a bit before I could actually pay so for that they upgraded a little my room ! So nice! Room is bit small but very clean and comfortable. Bathroom is amazing, bathtub design is great and fills fast. It is so comfy:) Pool is amazing, great architecture and water temperature was perfect. Sauna that also worked perfectly. Five stars and nothing negative to say. I recommend and hope will have an occasion to stay there again.

I will admit I had high expectations coming into the Rosewood Hotel Georgia. All of these were exceeded. Don't think about booking anywhere else - this is the place to be. Beautiful historic building which isn't stuffy - wonderful recent renovation carefully adding a tasteful update to rooms etc. Great bar/lounge area (but popular so be aware if you want to get a table - probably best to book if you can - otherwise possibly a short wait). Great spa - wonderful massage by both myself and my partner whilst we stayed over the post Christmas period Service is probably the key thing here though - everything requested was done promptly - great housekeeping staff. We had a bunch of great hotels on our recent visit to Canada - but this one is going to remain in the memory a long time - and when we visit Vancouver again, will be our first stop!

The Rosewood is simply superb! The premier room we stayed in had a magnificent view of the art gallery and city. The room had many great details with superb amenities. The staff was very friendly, including the woman Sandra who ensured our room was perfect. Great location as well. We have stayed at every 5 star hotel in Vancouver and the airport and this odd now at the top of our favorites! One small issue I had called the front desk on two occasions and no one answered after 10 rings.
