Felt like royalty!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We visited for a girls weekend and right from the moment we walked in the door we were treated like royalty. Someone approached us to see if we needed help checking in. The lady who checked us in was lovely and when giving us our keys came out from behind the desk to give them to us. It's all these little touches that really elevate the experience. The room was really nice with lots of wood accents that I loved. There were four of us staying in the room and they had provided amenities for all four of us, we never had to call down for anything. There were robes and slippers for each of us and lots of glasses and water. We were very excited to return to our room to find we had received turn down service as I know not all hotels are offering that anymore. They kept our water replenished during our whole stay and even filled up our ice bucket for us. We had been told there was a car that would take us where we needed to go if available and it was lovely to have the car take us to breakfast on Saturday morning and not have to take an UBER or taxi. We used the pool Sunday morning and it was an outdoor pool that the attendant told us was kept at 30 degrees. It was nice and warm and lovely and quiet early in the morning. We had such an amazing stay and the only fault I could find was that the pillows weren't quite firm enough for me. A small thing though.

Shining Star of Vancouver

Had a lovely stay at this hotel over the past week. Amazing food and ambiance at the Botanist restaurant for breakfast as well as for dinner. An amazing lobby lounge meal-try the grilled cheese. Highlight of our stay was the wonderful assistant front desk manager sending us a personal card, truly old school and so wonderful. We will not forget Vanessa and her warmth and hospitality. Thank you! This hotel is the shining star of Vancouver

Poor Gold Level experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We had high expectations about the Gold Level based on reviews and other Fairmont hotels. It seemed the staff were 50/50. 50% excellent and 50% poor. People raved about the chef-cooked breaksfasts but we found them terrible. The eggs were always way overcooked and not hot. I suspect they precook the food then just warm it up. Poor experience with the doorman as well. My recommendation is to skip this hotel. For a truly great Gold Level experience, stay at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.

Great location, great service... great hotel!

I arrived several hours before check-in but the woman behind the counter was happy to let me have a room – which was much appreciated after a cross-country flight. As a Gold Accor member I was a bit disappointed that I didn't get the advertised upgrade but the room was clean, spacious and packed with the amenities you expect from a luxury hotel (including a welcome bar of dark chocolate). The complimentary welcome drinks in the lobby bar were very good and, surprisingly, served with a smile. (I say surprisingly because the bar staff at other Fairmont properties I've stayed at have had "attitude" or been downright unpleasant.) I was able to get a good sleep every night because the room was quiet. (There was some minor construction noise from one of the floors above me but it was limited to daytime.) Housekeeping and turn-down was top-notch! I left a "thank you" note with the daily tip and each time I returned to find a note of appreciation from the housekeeper. A nice touch. Self-parking in the underground garage was convenient and simple and the café on the ground floor was very welcome in the mornings when I didn't feel like venturing out in the cold. On Valentine's Day, I found a decadent chocolate/marshmallow heart waiting for me in my room. I was booked to stay five nights but an incoming snow storm back home forced me to change my flight plan so I had to check-out after three nights. As I drove away, I was actually a little sad to be leaving a hotel where I was made to feel so at home.
