Fairmont Vancouver Airport

Great stay before an early morning flight. We had a tasty meal and drinks in the lounge downstairs, and the room was quiet and comfortable. The staff we interacted with were all friendly and helpful. This was a connecting flight, and it was worth the money to be so handy to the terminal. Would stay again.

We stayed one night before our flight home after a ski trip at Sun Peaks. We usually stay at less expensive properties, but because of the convenience of staying inside the airport for our 7:00am flight, we splurged. The hotel is luxurious, the staff is gracious, and the dining in the lounge is exceptional. We shared the squash soup to start our meal, and because it was so delicious, we asked our server if the chef would share the recipe. Despite being busy in the kitchen, Chef Oliver came to our table to meet us, then returned a second time with a hand written recipe as he explained how he prepares the dish. How do you top that? We were sad to leave the hotel at 5:00am this morning but so happy that we stayed at the Fairmont at YVR.

This hotel has the big advantage of being inside the terminal, and just five minutes walk from security. It is also very expensive - more than $500 Canadian a night - and has some noise issues. I am a light sleeper and asked for a quiet room and was given 902, which is right above a large bank of ventilation fans that howled all night and defeated my ear plugs. I changed rooms the next night but overall the sleep quality was poor. I will stay elsewhere next time.

Location is inside the terminal so if you have an early flight this is likely your only option. And the price reflects that. Room was decently furnished. The wait for room service was quite long so I recommend if you are pressed for time then call them as soon as you arrive. The menu is decent enough and the food was good, but the wait was way too long to even get to talk to someone to take your order. I think I waited 20 minutes on hold and then got somebody who told me I would receive a call back shortly. Whole thing might have taken an hour. Then they tack on some costs on the bill that isn't apparent on the menu from what I could find. So beware for your order to cost more than you expect. The shower in my room was sort of broken, but I didn't really have time to wait for anyone from maintenance to fix it as I wanted to get to bed. The handle just spins and spins and eventually you find searing hot or icy cold. Not much in between. Seems like the stops were broken which I would think would be noticed by anyone cleaning the room or touching the handle. All in all a generic experience all around.

Excellent, comfy, relaxing and delightful place pre/post or mid journey. The hotel is very comfortable and obviously very conveniently located within the terminal. Absolutely recommend the hotel and would visit again if ever on a Vancouver layover.
