Amazing stay and Fairmont Vancouver

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Fairmont Hotel Vancouver was really amazing and staff are so kind and helpful. The location is very good and central. I cannot say enough about how helpful the staff are and they really go far and beyond to make you feel comfortable. Melany Bautista was particularly helpful with our stay and helped us a lot with navigating the touristy places. She was our go to person for all our needs and she always made us feel welcomed. We plan to go back and visit soon.

Huge room and wonderful food

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

It was basically a junior suite and wonderful. Food was expensive but outstanding. Staff could not have been more helpful. This was my second stay here. Fairmont hotels are full of amenities as they seem to anticipate visitors needs. Nothing in my room needed attention - no hair dryer problem, no burnt out light bulb, no clogged drain in shower, etc.

THE “HOT” SPOT WITH A COOL LOCATION

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

If you're the kind of person who likes to sleep in a room that feels like a brisk autumn breeze, then… ahem... this is not the hotel for you. Welcome to a stay where the thermostat is just for decoration, and the only thing "cool" about your room is your questionable life choices when booking. Let me set the scene: you arrive, expecting an oasis of comfort, only to find that your room has a "thermostat" (don't be fooled) that does absolutely nothing. It’s a masterwork of passive-aggressive climate control. I thought my AC was malfunctioning—nope, turns out it’s more like a heated "charm" in disguise. The thermostat does nothing, and my only hope was to strip down to a sheet (romantic!) while I fought off the sweat like I was auditioning for a reality survival show. The Service: Efficient, But With a Few “Whoopsies” After a night of tossing and turning, I decided to call the front desk for some relief. Enter: the heroic duo of repairmen, who arrived like they were about to fix a space shuttle. Armed with gadgets galore, they confirmed my worst fear: no air conditioning. Apparently, the system only works seasonally—think of it like a moody friend who’s only available when it’s convenient. They cracked my window (thanks?) and promised a fan, which did arrive shortly after, though it felt like a light breeze at best. Also worth noting: my one of my room keys didn’t work on arrival, requiring a fun little trip back downstairs. After some ID verification (which made me feel like a spy), I was given a new set, along with the elusive Wi-Fi passcode. The cherry on top? The Wi-Fi speeds that screamed "Welcome to the 90s!" With a download speed of 4.7 Mbps (glacial, at best), I forked out $25 for “premium” internet, which barely edged up to 7.4 Mbps. How nostalgic. Despite the concierge and front desk’s promises, that charge stuck around like a bad ex—so, yep, another phone call to finally break up with it. The Mini Bar: More Like Mini Drama As a seasoned hotel guest, I knew to avoid the mini bar’s temptations. However, when it came time to store some refrigerated items, I remembered last time’s debacle where my personal stash got lost in the land of overpriced snacks. Not this time! A small, mobile refrigerator was promptly delivered to my room, making my already cozy (read: tiny) room even cozier. Now, it’s not that I'm complaining, but it did feel like I was living in a fridge with a side of “this hotel was designed in 1939” charm. TV, Showers, and Coffee: Things That Happen...Eventually The TV? Well, let’s just say if you like to really test your eyesight, the small, vintage television in my room is perfect for you. I had a chance to check out a friend’s suite downstairs and they had a gorgeous, big screen—but who’s counting? The shower? Delightfully confusing at first, and despite cranking the heat to max, it only managed to reach "tepid at best." The water pressure was somewhere between “gentle rain” and “rainforest mist.” But hey, I’m just happy I didn’t have to resort to using the sink. And don’t get me started on the coffee. I thought I’d have a simple pick-me-up with the in-room Nespresso machine… but nope! After a few rounds of “does this thing even work?” I was ready to stage a protest. A cheerful hotel staffer tried to help, and after three (count 'em) machines and a very disrupted lunch, I finally got my caffeine fix. The Perks: Location, Location, Location! But here’s the kicker—the location. I mean, come on, this place is practically begging for a picture in the city’s "coolest spots" catalog. It’s a regal castle, tucked in the middle of Vancouver's glass-and-steel jungle. The green patina of the copper roof gives it that “mystical fortress” look, and you can almost hear the castle theme music playing in the background. Built in 1939, this hotel definitely has history—and character. The Notch8 restaurant and bar is a total gem, offering fantastic food and live music that’s guaranteed to make you forget about your over-heated room (for a moment, at least). The staff? Absolutely top-tier, willing to assist with whatever shenanigans you throw their way. The Verdict: Would I Stay Again? So, would I return? Well, now that I’ve cracked the code and learned how to manage the climate like I’m in a tropical rainforest, I might be back. The location is just too perfect, and if you’re not someone who melts in the heat, then you might just be in for a cozy stay. If you're a connoisseur of quirky experiences—slow Wi-Fi, ancient TVs, and the occasional surprise fan—then this hotel is your new best friend. Just be sure to pack an extra fan… and maybe an air conditioner.

Great place to stay for families

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Brilliant stay here! Reasonably priced for the standard of the hotel and hospitality here. Staff could not do more for you and you are made to feel like royalty staying here! Special mention for ‘Diana’ on front desk who made our stay extra special after we had a slight malfunction with a lock in the bathroom! Also the restaurant in the hotel is excellent and a must visit if you stay here! Would love to come back , pool is warm and spacious. Friendly and welcoming to the whole family.
