When you stay at Xanadu Mansion you are not staying in a usual hotel. It is the Club House of the Varadero Golf Club that has been magically refurbished strictly respecting the original 1930 construction. The house is spacious, practical and very charming with 6 luxury rooms. A world class restaurant, with an international menu is located in the main floor. A large wine cellar, stocked with wines from 18 different countries is located in the basement.

Fantastic spot for breakfast and a swim. The view is absolutely stunning and the beach is probably the best in Varadero. Just be aware that they often won't take cash and your cards likely won't work. Pro Tip - Take the tour and see the wine cellar and the old pipe organ in the basement.

My husband and I visited for some drinks at sunset. We were greeted and directed up to the 3rd floor by stairs or lift - we took the lift which although old worked just fine. We were the only people in this grand looking bar when we arrived and initially sat inside where there are great views out to sea, we then moved outside overlooking the golf course and opposite coast and we also enjoyed the fabulous Cuban sunset. The barman took great care making our drinks - fresh lemonade and daiquiris (strawberry and mango) which were exceptionally good, the best drinks we had in our two week stay in Cuba. By the time we left a few more people had arrived and the restaurant downstairs seemed busy while we sat in a lovely lounge room waiting for a taxi arranged by one of the staff for us. I would definitely recommend a visit to this bar. We would have liked to have eaten here too but the menu has virtually no vegetarian food so didn't suit us.

Lady at entrance of hotel very unfriendly.. we asked for a table in restaurant which was totally empty .. she sent us to bar upstairs whilst she verified if we could be accomated. She asked us several times if we wanted a tour of the mansion , which we did not, much to her dismay! After 20 minutes she came to find us to ask if we would pay in dollar & cash and was very unhappy to allow us to pay with card although finally she agreed. The wine list & view were great . We were the only gusts eating for lunch . There were many items missing from menu .. so finally we found an option which they had available. Octopus salad starter not good .. not fresh . Tasted weird . Lobster main course braised in a dark brown sauce & served with a guarnish of boiled Brussels sprout & cauliflower.. very unappetizing & I couldn’t eat it . Very weird experience! Do not recommend

Maison Xanadu is situated on the golf course of Melia Americanas. We walked in and made a dinner reservation but as we were walking away we were told no credit cards were accepted only American dollars. The policy in Cuba is that Visa and Master Card are accepted provided that they have not been issued by a U.S bank therefore we did not bring a lot of cash. We had some Cuban pesos but to to our astonishment they were not accepted. This is the first time I have been in a country that does not accept its own currency. We complained at the hotel who told us the internet was "broken" which i doubt since it worked in our room and the hotel relies on it for payment in full for the all inclusive. We later spoke to people that had made their reservation on line and paid with a credit card. We could of tried again but the experience had soured us on the place.

My husband and I went on a classic car ride tor in Varadero and our gide recomended us a stop at Mansión Xanadú. It was amazing! It was very romantic! The view was spectacular! We also see a lot of Perrito de la plaja (little lizards with curly tails). I love animals and for me seeing them was pure joy and happyness!
