The Valentines Dinner was excellent with tasty lobster and strawberry cheesecake. The service was so awesome and the atmosphere was so romantic. What a great place to watch the sunset and take incredible pictures. Will definitely be back to enjoy the golf experience.

Always a must when staying at the Melia Las Americas and or playing golf at the course next door.

The mansion is amazing with all the hand hewn Mahogany harvested from right on the Varadero peninsula years ago. Beautiful dining area on the ground level. Second floor boasts 6 well furnished rooms that take you back in time by way of decor and craftsmanship and are offered for vacation stays with access to the golf course. The third floor has ( in my opinion) the best bar in Cuba with the best bartender/mixologist. The photos we got of sunsets there on the patio just off of the bar, absolutely amazing ! Definitely worth the walk or taxi ride from anywhere on the Varadero strip for a drink and a sunset. Entry is free and beer is ice cold and drinks are delicious. Occasionally they have live entertainment ( I witnessed some great jazz on sax and clarinet in the past) Come and enjoy Cuba at its finest !!!

Best Beach in Varadero

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

Fantastic spot for breakfast and a swim. The view is absolutely stunning and the beach is probably the best in Varadero. Just be aware that they often won't take cash and your cards likely won't work. Pro Tip - Take the tour and see the wine cellar and the old pipe organ in the basement.

Fabulous sunset cocktails

My husband and I visited for some drinks at sunset. We were greeted and directed up to the 3rd floor by stairs or lift - we took the lift which although old worked just fine. We were the only people in this grand looking bar when we arrived and initially sat inside where there are great views out to sea, we then moved outside overlooking the golf course and opposite coast and we also enjoyed the fabulous Cuban sunset. The barman took great care making our drinks - fresh lemonade and daiquiris (strawberry and mango) which were exceptionally good, the best drinks we had in our two week stay in Cuba. By the time we left a few more people had arrived and the restaurant downstairs seemed busy while we sat in a lovely lounge room waiting for a taxi arranged by one of the staff for us. I would definitely recommend a visit to this bar. We would have liked to have eaten here too but the menu has virtually no vegetarian food so didn't suit us.

Unfriendly reception & terrible food

Lady at entrance of hotel very unfriendly.. we asked for a table in restaurant which was totally empty .. she sent us to bar upstairs whilst she verified if we could be accomated. She asked us several times if we wanted a tour of the mansion , which we did not, much to her dismay! After 20 minutes she came to find us to ask if we would pay in dollar & cash and was very unhappy to allow us to pay with card although finally she agreed. The wine list & view were great . We were the only gusts eating for lunch . There were many items missing from menu .. so finally we found an option which they had available. Octopus salad starter not good .. not fresh . Tasted weird . Lobster main course braised in a dark brown sauce & served with a guarnish of boiled Brussels sprout & cauliflower.. very unappetizing & I couldn’t eat it . Very weird experience! Do not recommend
