When you head to Meliá Vienna’s 57 Restaurant for a cocktail, you’ll be drinking at the highest point in Austria. On weekends, a DJ livens up the scene, and during the week, guests are in prime position to close the deal in the Danube City Business District – the hotel is near the Austria Center and the United Nations, and after work, the recreation options of Danube Island await. Vienna’s panoramic cityscape is the standout design detail here, and walls of windows fill each guestroom with abundant light.

This hotel must rate as one of the best places to stay I have ever been to. The location of the hotel whilst out of the city gives you perfect views of the city and is next to the Danube. There is a metro station 5-minute walk from the hotel which will get you into the center in about 10 minutes. The rooms are absolutely fabulous and if you can try and book a levels room as they are very luxurious. Breakfast is comprehensive and will Cater to most tastes. Celia should get a special mention as when we checked in she was extremely helpful and pleasant. We also saw her again in the levels room on the 57th floor and she was very attentive and gave us some of advice on the best attractions to see. All of the staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful. If you're planing to visit Vienna I would recommend this hotel

As someone who works at hotels, I know a couple of things about how they operate and how hospitality works. First of all, I think it is unacceptable for a 5 star hotel not to provide a porter service. We had to carry our suitcases from the car all the way to the 13th floor and then move them around the hotel by ourselves when we had to change rooms. During the check in procedure they provide you with no information about the hotel and if you try to contact the reception or the room service department you have to try at least 3 times before they pick it up. I asked the room service for a single bottle of water and it took them 40 minutes to bring it to the room. A couple of days before we arrived here I sent them an email asking for twin beds for me and my brother. When we arrived, the lady at the reception told us that the beds are already separated. They were not! I called them and asked them to come and separate them and after that a series of false information occurred. First they told me that I have to exchange rooms with my parents to have twin beds, then they told me that I can have twin beds at my room but they still assumed that I want to change room so they asked me to do so, then they told us that both rooms can have twin beds and they offered to separate them in both rooms even though the other room was for my parents who never asked for twin beds. And that’s not even half of the miscommunication I had to go through. The outcome? None of them could be seperated! The reception had zero idea about which rooms have the possibility to have twin beds and, for some reason, they never cared to ask before they gave us any information. Their excuse was that they have 250 rooms and it’s impossible for them to know! Who was supposed to know then? Me? Then I told Irene at the reception that no one informed us that we have to place the card in the elevator to go to our floor, to which she ironically replied that “it is common sense”! I went down at the reception, asking for a manager and they told me that no one is there. But suddenly, one minute after I told them that I don’t believe that, a manager appears! As I was trying to explain to a lady at the reception what happened, Irene started talking on top of my voice and when I told her that “ I am talking” she replied with “I am talking too”! Like she is a teenager talking back to her mother! Her whole attitude during our stay was unacceptable and ironic. Even her face expressions towards us were indescribable! The reception has zero communication with each other, no one is ever informed about what happens around the hotel and they expect the guest to tell them what’s going on. One day a lady called me from the reception and she told me to tell her again what I will do with the room change because “they are six people at the reception” and they cannot all know what happens. Instead of asking her colleagues, she called to ask me! And even when I changed rooms, the lady there gave me a wrong room and I had to correct her about it. I told her that I spoke with a manager about another floor which lead to a ten minute conversation and she had to call the manager to ask her what’s going on again. Also, most of the rooms don’t even have a river view and, in order for you to have one, they ask you to pay even more money…. So don’t let yourselves be fooled! These are not even everything that happened during our stay, but they will give you a very good idea about the professionalism, the hospitality and the mannerisms of the people who work there.

Positive: The hotel room was great. Got a the level room which included breakfast with a view and access to the lounge. Walking distance to the UN where I need to go every day. Negative: The service was not great especially the person working the lounge in the evenings. She was rude to both of us. I was traveling in a group with others staying at the hotel who said the same. The person working at the reception desk on two consecutive evenings gave us bad information. Generally, I think several of the staff needs some training. That said, I will definitely come back as the bad service didn’t bother me that much. Some of my colleagues though will not. The hotel have better business if they could improve as well as more the staff would get more tips! Hopefully this will help the hotel improve. I look forward to staying here again next year.

Just back from a 4 night stay and after reading some of the reviews I was a bit concerned about going, I went with my daughter to go to the Christmas Markets and we were very pleased with the Hotel, We arrived 4hrs later than expected due to Flight delay and young man who checked us is was delightful he was kind enough to bring a kettle and some tea to our room as I said I don't drink coffee, our room was a very spacious twin the bathroom was very nice with 2 basins walk in shower and the toilet was behind a glass door and it had a heated floor, plenty of hanging space and a hairdryer, this hotel is across the river from the main part of Vienna its in a business area it's surrounded by a Plaza so no close traffic noise during the night, we used the subway station daily it's very close to the hotel no more than 5 mins away and the subway system was very easy to use. I would definitely go back to this hotel we really enjoyed our stay.

We have been s here just for a few nights. Not so close to the city center, but metro realy near by, so it is easy to go to the city center. Staff are only foreginers or from Nepal or Est. Europe. Roof toop is nice but without music it has an amazing view but very creapy vibe, also not easy to find the place...Breakfast is a joke for 4 star hotel...reception staff also so average. All in all in this budget, just choose something else, there are many nice hotels in Viena city center....
