About the Hotel

Hotel Wailea is an enviable destination-within-a-destination in the acclaimed resort community of Wailea where suites made up of coral and limestone walls, bleached white oak floors and sustainably farmed Ohia wood from Hawaii's Big Island feel like your own homey beach house. Even though the suites are equipped with SubZero appliances, dining options will lure you from your hillside retreat: Artisanal cocktails at The Cabanas are mixed with homemade syrups and sodas, and the Zagat five-star Capische? prepares every element in its gourmet marriage of farm-fresh Italian and French flavors from scratch.

Reviews for Hotel Wailea

A wonderful treat with a hefty price tag.

Outstanding property, suite, and staff. Felt deserving of all five stars. Staff in particular were timely, helpful, and courteous at all times. We don't seek out properties like this and were looking for a once-in-a-very-long-time experience. This was certainly that. Stayed in the Celebration Suite, which was outstanding, although was a bit surprised by some of the occasional road noise we heard from our balcony. Used the $60 breakfast credit option and appreciated the convenience and quality of breakfast; it was also more our style to use that credit and then be free to explore Wailea and the south coast for the rest of the day/evening. Really enjoyed the fitness studio and its excellent view. As a trail runner, it's hard to make a treadmill seem interesting, and that view nearly does the job. Also really enjoyed the pool. Staff at the cabanas were attentive and drinks were delicious. Underrated value: Valet staff will provide chairs, umbrella, and towels for beach excursions, whether you're using your own car or not. This made our trips to Big Beach so smooth and delightful--we'd call up to the desk and by the time we arrived at the driveway, our car would be loaded with beach-day supplies. Overrated, slightly: The restaurant. Staff and food quality were excellent, but the menu seemed overpriced at $150/person before drinks and additions.

Deserves the high reviews

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Wailea. It was a trip to attempt to rejuvenate during a challenging time and Hotel Wailea was perfect. We did not care that it was away from the beach. The ocean views were spectacular and the hotel was so comfortable we didn't see much need to leave. Everything was executed at a high level and in a personal way - housekeeping, the valet drivers, events, pool and restaurant service. It was clear that a number of guests were repeat visitors. This was one of the more personal high-end hotel experiences we've had. After a week, we had met quite a few staff members and they recognized us. The ability to use the valet staff for drop-off and pick-up from area restaurants and attractions was a delight. We had short wait times if any. We took advantage of a cocktail class at the pool, a nice open air fitness center and the restaurant. Perhaps because we were there just over a week, there were some nice surprises that were given to us during our stay. The staff really care about their guests and go above and beyond to make sure you are happy. It was a great experience.

Quiet relaxation

We just left this morning after 4 nights here. The setting, grounds and facilities are impeccable and views are amazing! We stayed in an ocean view villa and it did not disappoint. Service was fantastic! The entire valet team was top notch, wish I had all their names to list! Shea at the pool bar was friendly and always on top of your needs! Housekeeping was great, room was always taken care of and nightly turn down service was very much appreciated. Definitely would recommend! Totally different experience than the hustle of the larger resorts in the area. Now just a couple picky cons: Surprised that there was phone charging capabilities on only one side of the bed Had to get out of bed to go to the wall switches to turnoff the bedside lamps. Had to request an iron after we got to the room which crunched us for time getting to our reservation night 1. Just put a modern steamer in the room.

Wonderful Stay

This is a beautiful adults only resort. The property is stunning with lots of birds, flowers, tropical plants and waterfalls. The staff here are amazing and go above and beyond to make your stay amazing. All the way through the resort from valet parking to the front desk, to the servers and housekeeping. Below is my breakdown of everything with a few suggestions for improvements. Room Pros—The rooms are spacious with kitchenettes, living room area, good sized lanai’s, a nice big bathroom, showers with amazing water pressure, big deep tub, king bed, lots of storage, two tvs, and good AC. They are beautifully decorated with Hawaiian decor. It was our anniversary and we were welcomed with champagne and a plate of delicious treats. Cons—the units in the front row have an amazing view of the ocean but they are close to a busy noisy road. It’s such a peaceful lush setting everywhere, so we weren’t expecting to hear cars and motorcycles all day long and a bit at night. The pillows were thick and dense and I often woke up with a kink in my neck or a migraine. Last few nights I used a flat patio cushion to save my neck! They switched the tv service while we were there and only one tv worked for us. We had to cast from our phones to watch Netflix etc as none of the movie features were working. Restaurants Pros—the food is delicious and servers were always friendly. Highly recommend the ricotta pancakes. Still daydreaming about them! Cons—very expensive and the menu never changes. Some variation each day or daily specials would give guests more options. We stayed 8 nights, so it gets repetitive. We added the breakfast option to our room and ate at the restaurant every morning. For dinner we did our anniversary at The Restaurant and it was lovely but based on the selection and price we ate elsewhere for all other meals. Pool The pool is a good size and nice temperature. There’s no battling over loungers or cabanas. There’s a hot tub too and lounge area with fire pit which is nice at night. They provide sunscreen too. The staff at the pool were great and always quick to help get you settled in and bring you ice waters and anything else you need such as drinks or food. We ate here once but again quite expensive—a cheeseburger is $45USD—that’s like $65+ Canadian! Pool is 24hrs which is great. We did a couple night swims and it was lovely. Gym Good sized open air gym with Peloton bikes, weights, Technogym treadmills, etc Suggestion-it gets hot in there 8am onwards so go early. Also, if you prefer the treadmill, there are only two and are the most popular pieces of equipment, so also another reason to go early. Location The resort is in beautiful Wailea which is clean, posh and beautifully landscaped. It’s in a great location that is close to restaurants, beaches, and shops. You can definitely walk to things if you wanted to or they will drive you anywhere nearby and pick you up. Their valet service is also top notch. Con—only con is it’s not right on the ocean, so no beach walks right outside your door BUT I’ll trade that for the adults only feature any day! All in all we had an amazing stay and would definitely return. Any cons mentioned above are outweighed by the amazing service we received. The resort made our 20th anniversary very special and we are very thankful. Well done Hotel Wailea!
