I've always been a Conrad fan, Conrad has always been my favorite brand to stay at under Hilton. Over the years I've Stay at Conrad New York Downtown, Conrad Tokyo, Conrad Maldives, Conrad Bora Bora, Conrad Dalian, Conrad Guangzhou, etc... I am confident to say that Conrad was the brand I stayed at the most under Hilton. I have never had a disappointed stay at any of them. But for my stay at Conrad Washington DC, I can say it was my worst stay at a Conrad or one of the worst stays under Hilton. I booked for two nights, one using Amex FHR and one as a regular Diamond member. While I appreciated the room upgrades, I was not able to stay in the same room for both nights, even though they were only 1 level apart. Front desk said they did not have the same room type for 2nd night, did not even give the option to pay the $30+ price difference to stay in the same room. I checked on my laptop after I checked in, there were at least 3 rooms to sell for the same room type (I have a screenshot of it). But instead of giving me options, I had to pack up everything and switch room after one night. Btw, you cannot stack your FHR benefits and your Diamond benefits together like some other Hilton properties. I asked for a Conrad panda plush during check-in, since I have a habit of collecting Conrad stuffed animals when the hotel has one available and I came to DC to see the pandas. Had to go through 3 different agents to finally get it after an hour. Both rooms' toilets were very weak. Second room's picture hanging on the wall near the lamp near my nightstand kept making sounds every 3-4 seconds through the entire night, so I barely got any sleep the second night. Asked for a late check out at 2 p.m., was told I could only get till 1 p.m. or pay a $75 "Diamond discount rate" to stay till 2 p.m. That just made me feel super uncomfortable. If you don't have it available, I am fine with it. But it sound like the hotel was being too greedy with money. Discounted rate? How? You charge around $500 cash rate for the room I was staying in, with 4 p.m. check in time and 11 a.m. check out time, That's 19 hours. $500/19 hours=$26/hour, how is $75 per hour discounted rate? You are charging nearly 3 times more than your regular rate. After I reported those questions, Chris Song reached out to me and said the pandas are something they offer as a surprise rather than something they put in the room. He also said it's a long process to request one. But how do I know as a regular guest if all the Conrads I've been to usually just put one in the room if they have them available? I explained I do not leave bad reviews because 3 of the Conrads I've been to did not have them in stock and I understood it. All I was looking for was an answer to let me know if I should expect to collect one or not, just don't say you will check then leave me hanging there. I just don't feel any energy or willingness to help during my check in process, it looked like front desk agents did not even want to be there. He also offered me a 3 p.m. late check out to make up the unpleasant experiences I had. I appreciated his help, I could see that Chris was trying to make things right. But unfortunately, my bad experiences did not stop there. On my check out day, I had housekeeping knocked on my door with "do not disturb" on at 1:20 p.m. and 1:44 p.m. (two different staffs) asking when are we checking out. Before we left, we decided to pick up some food from Estuary to eat in our room, since we still have $50 F&B credit as part of the Diamond benefits. The guy we placed order with said he will call us when the food is ready, never happened, 40 minutes later we went down and found the food was done long time ago and it was barely warm by then. After I took one bite of my sandwich, I noticed green dots on the back of my sandwich. Apparently, the bread they used for the sandwich had mold on it. The restaurant offered a full refund for the check, but I left with an empty stomach since I did not have time to wait for a new one and I was scared to eat anything from Estuary again due to food safety concerns. Again, first time that I had the Diamond benefits but could not enjoy it like in the other Conrads. At that time, I was just so tired of everything I experienced and just wanted to get out of the hotel. So if you are looking to stay in DC to enjoy some FHR benefits or Diamond benefits, pick somewhere else so you are not in a worse mood when your stay ends. I appreciate location, spacious and clean rooms, the help I received to make things right, but I rather not experienced them at all.

Great location to most sites. Hotel is all digital/electronic. You can use your phone for just about everything … room key and elevators included. Or get a key card. Rooms are “wired” too. Room 509 was spacious with views all the way to the White House and Exec Office Bldg.

This is one of my favorite hotels ever. It is so modern and the food is incredible. The only weird thing I have is that I stay here on average 1-2 nights a month and the front desk never seems to have records of my prior visits. It is also expensive relative to other hotels in the area so I can't stay here all the time.

My husband and I had a kid-free day and decided to head across the river from Virginia and into DC to stay at the Conrad. Using our Amex FHR benefits, we booked a club level room. Upon arrival, we were unable to get an early check in until around 2:00 but hung out in the club lounge, enjoying the views over a couple glasses of wine and some of the delightful snacks they had. Since we did book through AMEX, we did get upgraded to a corner room and were delighted with a stuffed Conrad panda and chocolates on our bed. The bathroom was gorgeous with Mojave Ghost amenities. We also loved the remote controlled blinds and the bed time amenity kit (if you do not receive one on club level, make sure to ask for one…it’s amazing!!!!). After slipping on our slippers, we headed back to the club lounge for the daily whisky tasting with views of the Capitol and Washington Monument in the distance. Opening up the freezer that was fully stocked with individual Hagan Daz ice cream was then followed with a board game on the sofas before dinner. The club lounge has daily themed stations for dinner and we were lucky to be there for Asian night! Their live station consisted of custom bao buns and the buffet had a delightful assortment of Asian fusion food which was amazing. When you are on club level you also get access to unlimited beer, wine and cocktails from their cocktail menu. Honestly, it makes the club worth it between the drinks, snacks, dinner, and breakfast. We then meandered down to the main restaurant as we had some credit from booking with our AMEX. We grabbed a couple of cocktails and a dessert at the bar which was lovely and fun before heading to bed. The breakfast up at the club lounge the next morning was perfect with a French toast and Benedict live station and a buffet with all the other breakfast things you could possibly need. I just want to say that this is SUCH a fantastic gem of a property. All of the staff are lovely and go the extra mile to be warm, welcoming, and make your stay a memorable one. We are so grateful for the experience we had!

Text: A very different hotel this one. If you’re looking for flawless and perfect, this isn’t for you. If you’re looking for a really nice room, incredible bed, great gym and really amazing service, stay here. It was remarkable how kind, cheerful and helpful folks were, from the front desk to valet. One employee I spoke with gushed about working here, including opportunities to move up. That’s the sign of a well run business. I did have a room issue but it was handled so well that it was plus for the hotel. A park view suite actually is worth the spend, as is the Club. Great dinners both nights, excellent service ,and a really good Cabernet. I’ll be back, for sure.
