LUXURY

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

I had the most wonderful stay at the Fairmont! From check-in to checkout, everything was seamless and enjoyable. It reminded me just how special a hotel experience can be. I was pleasantly surprised when I entered my room and found the sweetest welcome gift – cheese, fruit, chocolates, sparkling and still water, and a charming note. Considering I don’t have any status with the hotel, this personal touch was truly appreciated. The LELABO toiletries were a lovely treat, and I’m now excited to purchase LeLabo Rose 31 for home! The turn-down service was equally impressive, with ice on the cooler, fresh towels, extra water, and a beautifully refreshed room. The hotel gym is by far the best I’ve ever seen – spotless, with a full range of machines, and even a pool! What really made my stay extra special, though, was the breakfast. Dharma and Phuc were so warm, welcoming, and friendly, making the morning experience that much better. I can’t wait to return to the Fairmont. It was truly a remarkable experience! Will be coming back.

Fine for conference or banquet. If you want charm and some luxury stay elsewhere.

Conference and banquet central. Location in Georgetown is fine and courtyard bar area has some charm but that's about all there is to mention peeps. Dated. I mean if you like shower curtains go for it ...... I'm still debating checking out even though I booked through Expedia and will not get refund. I love sports but entire basketball teams staying next to me is decidedly not restful. They were kind enough to let me pay for an upgraded room to get to a quieter place. The gym in the basement is well reminiscent of a college gym and the lap pool is not worth changing into swim attire. Will not return. So many great options in DC. The Willard, The Graham, Hays Adam's, DuPont Circle Hotel, Rosewood, smaller boutiques hotels that have been lovely. For the price I would definitely stay elsewhere. This is a 3 star experience at best.

Lovely

We had a lovely 10-night stay at this hotel. The corner suite was incredibly spacious and well-designed. The staff was always friendly and welcoming, and the service was impeccable. This is my second stay, and I still believe they should modernize the bathrooms. Otherwise, this hotel offers almost everything you could want.

Family and dog friendly hotel

Pros: I'm an ALL platinum member and enjoy the Fairmont Fit program/gym. Angela the Royal Club operator was lovely, as were the front desk staff Opal and Kelli. I couldn't get the free Wifi with my ALL account to work but they quickly gave me a code to override the glitch. Non members have to pay $15 p/d for WiFi. Sidney in housekeeping is outstanding. Cons: I wanted a suite close to the elevator but there aren't any. The more spacious (500+ square ft) suites are further down the hall. The elevators and lobby are freezing in the Winter. It wouldn't hurt to put an overhead or space heater by the front doors. The courtyard is lovely but the firepits were not in use, which was a bit of a disappointment. Air France has a contract with The Fairmont so you might get stuck behind 20 or so AF employees during check-in, but the line moves quickly.

Adequate/underwhelming

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

Adequate/underwhelming; not exceptional. The hotel is quite dated at this point. The staff we interacted with were pleasant, but the hotel feels understaffed and under managed. We can confirm other reviewers’ comments — strange WiFi requirements; no extra blankets in room; lack of high-end services. We’d sent multiple emails in advance of Christmas Day brunch to confirm our reservations. When we checked in they didn’t have the reservation. We had also expected the hotel to be more “decked out” for a Christmas stay. While there were some decorations, it hardly felt festive or warm. So: adequate, but not the high end experience I thought the Fairmont brand represented.

The entire staff at the Fairmont made us feel welcome: the waiters in the breakfast room, the car park attendants, the housekeeper, the servers in the lobby restaurant, and the people at the front desk. We enjoyed all our meals there, the quiet room, and the readily available taxis. The location was great! We’d definitely stay there again with the Signature luxury perks; we enjoyed them all! We’ll be watching for more hotels at our desired destinations to pop up again in the future…. Thank you for always promptly answering our emailed questions; so reassuring.

The hotel is lovely with very attentive staff. The lobby and outdoor Courtyard are very pretty, very pleasant places to relax after a full day of walking and sightseeing. The food and beverage credit made for a very tasty late evening dinner near the lobby bar. The hotel is highly recommended.
