To step inside our soaring entrance is to become a part of the past, present, and future of the Penn Quarter. Constructed in 1891 as a headquarters for Riggs National Bank, the landmark example of Richardson Romanesque architecture was known as the Bank of Presidents, and resides at the intersection not just of 9th and F Street, but of American history.

We did not have hot water in our first room, but they put us in a higher room and a bit larger room. As an apology they sent us a bottle of champagne, which was very much appreciated. Having said that, the walls of the rooms are very thin and you can hear the people next door very clearly. We were switched to the 10th floor where the party room was directly above us. We could party right along with the wedding party as it was that loud in our room. So try to stay in a lower floor. Great location, very easy walk to museums, metro, dining, shopping, etc. Very expensive.

Really elegant hotel that I learned was formerly a bank (great art deco decor). Welcomed upon arrival with champagne, which was a nice touch. Location across from Metro is perfect. The staff were also very friendly and I really enjoyed my stay!

I enjoyed the stay at Riggs Washington DC in early September -- From the moment I request check-in, I could feel the warm-welcome services and radiant smile from the front desk. Even though there were some issues in my room, they immediately took actions to resolve them and helped us change room in the next day. I would like to take a moment to appreciate the team and looking forward to another stay in the future!
