To step inside our soaring entrance is to become a part of the past, present, and future of the Penn Quarter. Constructed in 1891 as a headquarters for Riggs National Bank, the landmark example of Richardson Romanesque architecture was known as the Bank of Presidents, and resides at the intersection not just of 9th and F Street, but of American history.

Great hotel in a prime location. Very friendly staff. The room was spacious and nicely designed. Only downside was that the windows couldn't be opened. Very positive that rooms were made every day. I don't need fresh linen or towels, but the room just being cleaned was something amazing that has unfortunately become so uncommon. Very nice bar(s) and a well-equipped gym with cold towels and water. After multiple bad hotel experiences in the U.S., this was finally a great one again.

The room was very comfortable and QUIET even though there were celebrations throughout the hotel (in the restaurant and Speak Easy - visit both, the food and drinks are amazing.) The staff: front desk, servers, valet, etc. are all helpful and welcoming. The bed and bedding were luxurious. The hotel is walking distance to the restaurant Smith's across the street and Le Pain Quotidiene ("Daily Bread," delicious breakfasts, brunch, and lunch, and French bakery items (across the street and down to the corner.) Up Connecticut Ave is "downtown" with restaurants and shopping, and the Smithsonian National Zooloical Park where the new Panda couple resides. Driving distance. Nice location.

Our first time at the rigs and definitely will not be our last! The staff was super friendly, the accommodations, elegant and comfortable, and the price point was awesome for such an elevated experience. We will be going back during spring break with our son and he will get his own room! Well done
