Too hot

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

The room was way too hot. We turned the AC all the way down to 65° and it’s still only got down 75° they sent a maintenance guy to fix it three different times and offered to move us rooms but by the time we got that offer, it was only one more night of sleeping in our own sweat. They did give us some money back on our stay though so it wasn’t a total loss.

Lovely, reasonably priced 5-star hotel in DC

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Located in amongst some of DC’s historical hotel properties, and just across the park from the White House, the Sofitel offers a 5-star hotel for a reasonable price (especially compared to its peers). While it doesn’t have a giant fancy lobby, and it is a little older in terms of fitting, it still fit the bill in terms of my expectation for a good value 5-star property. I found my room to be clean and spacious. I was happily on the top floor of the hotel, which meant I got good light into the room. I would imagine however that rooms on the lower floors could look at neighbouring buildings. The bathroom had both a bath and a proper walk in shower, which was appreciated; however I always experienced a loud banging/rattling from the piping when using the shower. This was a bit annoying, but didn’t have any other practical effect (water pressure and heat were still good). I put this down to it being an older building in DC winter. Ultimately I was happy with the quality of the hotel for the price that I paid. Its not the Hay Adams or the Willard; but its basically sits between them location wise, and is priced far more reasonably.

Family trip to Washington DC with historical research purpose for Normandy American Heroes

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The Sofitel Washington DC is ideally situated a few minutes from the White House and all the iconic sites such as but not limited to the WWI monument and memorial. From the very moment we arrived we felt at home, Veronique, Director of Operations was here to greet us after our stay at the Sofitel New York. The suite I booked as a Diamond Member was up to my expectations, with a beautiful view of Washington where her team made sure the sofa bed of my son was made every evening. Breakfast was interesting as in Europe I'm used to having a buffet whereas in the States it seems, just like New York, that the standard is to offer a choice thru their menu. It was fine, enough choices but missed my habit of having for example corn flakes but that's just a detail! We had one time room service and dined also at the restaurant.... The food was excellent and well presented so worth the experience. We had decided to stay the night before our departure. Concerning the valet service, excellent, they are true professionals and always attentive to satisfying you.... my vehicle was well taken care of. Overall a great experience, when I decide to come back to Washington DC without hesitation I will stay there and strongly recommend NAH guests to choose this hotel, they won't regret it! Last but not least, Veronique was very kind, helping me out for example with my reservation at the Shoah Holocaust museum and was always ready to help me out with her team. A tres bientot, Rudy Owner of Normandy American Heroes
