I am writing this review about the Bar not the hotel as I did not stay at the property. My experience at the bar inside the St. Regis Hotel was subpar. I attended a business gathering after work and ordered a drink as I lounged at a table with other people from my party. The waiter took my order and immediately asked for my credit card. I'm not sure if he thought I was a flight risk (I was in business attire), but I can respect that if he's been burned before. Several minutes later he brought back my charged card and the receipt and circled back immediately to gather his receipt and tip. I casually mentioned that I hadn't filled it out yet because I had yet to receive my drink. He proceeded to huff under his breath and walked away. Eventually coming back with my drink almost 10 minutes later. The drink was fine (for $40, I would hope so!) and the space was elegant, but my customer experience wasn't very pleasant. Probably not a place that I will return to.

Front desk and concierge NEVER answered in our 3 day visit. We had to go to lobby to ask the questions we had. We checked in at 5:00 and our room was not ready. We waited until 6:15 and had to go back to ask if it was ready. We were disappointed and won’t go back.

I spent a delightful few days in the vibrant heart of Washington, D.C and my experience was truly memorable. The hotel was ideally located among iconic landmarks and bustling streets, making it easy to explore the city. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by the front doormen, who wore warm smiles and had a helpful demeanor, ready to assist with any inquiries I had. While my room had its charm, it could benefit from modern updates to enhance its appeal. The facilities were remarkable, showcasing luxurious amenities that catered to every need.

I was going to let this slide, but on opening my suitcase on returning to the UK, to discover even more of our clothes covered in varnish, the nightmare of our stay came tumbling back. On arrival, a cursory glance of our suite revealed a non working TV in the bedroom, a non working Bose unit in the bedroom, a broken light in the living room, a broken vanity light, and a non working lock on the door to the suite. With the exception of the door lock, these were rectified within 24 hours, but does no one do pre-arrival room inspection? The answer is obviously no, because as it turns out, these issues were the least of our problems. Turns out that unbeknown to us, the four carver chairs in the living room, plus the desk, were covered in melting varnish. We only discovered this when we started to see brown stains on our clothes. A housekeeping manager was called, agreed that the situation was intolerable, and promised to return ASAP. Needless to say, he did not reappear. Livid, I went down to reception and demanded to see a front office manager, who appeared, apologized, but told us another suite was not available for another 24 hours. In the meantime, while we waited for the room change, the furniture would be swapped out. Not one piece of furniture was replaced, leaving us for a third night in a suite, where we could not use most of the furniture in the living room. The only place you could safely sit down, was the couch. Needless to say when we eventually moved suites, the new one had obviously been refurbished recently, unlike the one we were in. Suite 510. On checking out, after five night stay, not one mention of discount was offered. They didn’t even offer to cover our cleaning bills. The only comment was how did we like the new suite? We will not be back.

Delicious food. Rough, course, uninformed service. The rumors about the decline in service are true. The problem are systemic, all the way to Food and Beverage Manager Linda, who relailed us with her career and how she was going to start firing people in two weeks due to the lack of talent in the front of the house. Um--ok--but how does that help us with the Tea we just endured and that you chared us for...? Good luck, St Regis...sad to see an old DC flower so faded.
