Diamond members upgrade in full effect. First off, this hotel made my mini solo vacation feel extremely luxurious. I was in town to have dinner at Minibar by Jose Andres and decided to use my free Hilton Diamond night to stay at the Waldorf. This place is absolutely stunning..from the curtained hallways, 24 hour room service, opulent Christmas decorations and amazing lunch at Peacock Alley this visit was great from start to finish. As a Diamond member I received an upgrade prior to arrival and the room was huge with a view of the Washington from Monument.

The Waldorf Astoria does not measure up to the other WA properties that I have visited, mostly because of the overall poor service. The hotel is beautiful; however, during my stay, the staff was very unorganized. I arrived early and was told that the hotel sold out the night before and they would text me once my room was available. I checked my luggage with the front desk and headed off for lunch and an afternoon at the museums. Around 4:30pm, I still did not hear from the hotel and when I walked back to check in, I was told that my room was ready, but no one bothered contacting me. The person at the front desk took my baggage claim ticket and told me that my luggage would arrive in the room shortly. After almost 2 hours, I called to check on my luggage and my assumption is they lost the ticket because they asked me to describe my luggage. Once the bell person arrived at the room, he seemed confrontational stating that I never gave my claim ticket to the lady at the front desk. I was a little taken aback by the attitude and acquisition from someone in the hospitality industry. I told him, that it was not a problem and gave him a tip. The next day, I went downstairs to their main dining area because a friend was meeting me for brunch (not high noon tea). I was told that you have to make a reservation to sit in the dining area (anywhere except for the bar). This information would have been very helpful during check-in. When I returned to the hotel after having brunch elsewhere, my room key did not work. I walked back down to the front desk to get a new room key. The person helping me was the manager. She asked how my stay was so far and I was honest. I told her the hotel was beautiful, my room was beautiful, but the service was not great. The manager apologized and stated she would make things right, but alas, none of the things that she said she would correct were addressed. I plan on staying at a different hotel the next time that I visit Washington DC. I booked this trip via AMEX FHR program, and I was unable to use any of the benefits that are supposed to come with that program. I hope others have better service.

I had been having an exceptional stay at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington DC. The service, facility, and food service had been flawless. Tonight, my opinion changed. The hotel had booked an event in the open air atrium with a band playing amplified music. In my room on the seventh floor, the music is clearly audible and keeping me awake. I had actually been watching a movie with earbuds until about 10:45 pm. and did not notice the noise. I called down at about 11 and asked them to turn the music down. After no perceptible change, I called back down and asked to be moved to a quieter room. The associate apologetically asked for me to hold for a manager. After waiting on hold for a minute or so, she came back on, apologized again, and asked if the manager could call back after getting off another call. The associate, rather than the manager, called back a few minutes later to deliver the news that they could not accommodate my request because the property was "fully committed." I expressed my displeasure, sharing my opinion that it seemed unreasonable for the hotel to book this type of event. I asked the associate when the event would end. She replied 1am! I stated that it certainly wasn't her fault but that I wanted to log my complaint officially. As I finish documenting my experience, I will say that the music stopped at midnight. That doesn't seem fair to the people who booked the event, but I am going to sleep now, deeply disappointed by an uncharacteristic Waldorf Astoria experience.

One of the best hotels in Pennsylvania Ave, the Waldorf Astoria - Washington DC, always delivers before, during, and after your stay. I have decided to make this hotel a favorite for celebrating our wedding anniversary and heading to another WA location. The attention to detail, friendly customer service, comfortable rooms, and location make this hotel one of the best in the Waldorf Astoria portfolio. The area is a must, especially since it is within walking distance to great restaurants and museums. I recommend booking a premium room or above; consider doing afternoon tea and take advantage of Peacock Alley for breakfast or drinks. Please be aware that parking is currently around $88 per night.

We booked a very last minute trip to DC when we were honored with White House trick or treating tickets. We had two littles and we were so taken care of from the minute we walked in to the minute we left. The boys were treated and we were too to the best experience. Each staff member acted as if we were the only ones in the hotel. We can't stop talking about it and hope we can visit again one day. My DIL loved the scent of the hotel. If someone could tell me where I might buy it I would be so grateful. Thank you!
