Outstanding High Tea at The Willard

Exceptionally fine experience, exceptionally fine service at the Willard High Tea seating. Our knowledgeable server was Deepak, who made the experience enjoyable far beyond expectation. I hope to make this an annual event.

AMAZING THANKSGIVING FAMILY MEAL

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The brunch at the Willard was a tremendous experience, It was incredibly good , Our family was excited to come and rightfully so , The whole experience was special & charming. DELICIOUS lobster tails , Table near the window , HARPISTS playing soothing music , EXPANSIVE sweets display , one person in my party was non alcoholic and they did the VIRGIN BLOODYMARYS AND SPARKLING CIDER , did not feel like the experience was less for him, staff replenishing the food throughout , in the end they do a last call around 445 pm and give you a chance to go through the buffet so you dont feel rushed out & still enjoy to the end. It was a CALM affair and felt like FAMILY brunch. better than Ritz and St Regis and Waldorf Astoria , ( when you make reservations try to ask for Crystal Room ) . SERVICE is 5 star .

BEST BRUNCH IN WASHINGTON DC

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

BEST BRUNCHES IN THE CITY --- I had the best brunch in Willard in Peacock Alley over this thanksgiving. From the reservation process , checking in with the seating staff , the champagne bar in lobby , the service was top notch. I took my coat by mistake & the person in the Crystal , he took my coat & gave me a coat check ticket so I dont have to go back. The Bloody Mary bar was great, My kid she is Gluten Free hence the staff brought the food to the table which accommodated her & picked up the GF desserts also & served her table side. I saw staff continuously cleaning the buffet , the spoons & the plates ( replacing new ones ) and taking the old ones almost magically ( there is a review which says otherwise but given people are impatient ; I would not worry about this.) One guest dropped the food in the buffet & the whole staff cleaned the space within minutes & made the guest feel special and she was very appreciative. ( this happened when I was around) . This is super cool place , very old school , the manager checking on the tables , staff cleaning the table in between , napkins being folded when you go to buffet when you come back, champagne glasses full when they get close to half or below. ( they serve Veuve by the way ) , Carving staff ensuring you get best cuts , Custom Egg section with chefs making delish food. Seafood on ice , Decor was great , with hay stacks , cute turkeys , ice carvings , pumpkins, I am already planning to come back for Christmas and Easter may be... WELL DONE WILLARD TEAM !!!!

Holiday Brunch: Skip it

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This review only applies to the Thanksgiving Brunch, I have not been a guest in the hotel: l won't risk losing your attention with a snappy opening line: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS THANKSGIVING BRUNCH. You would have a better experience at an Applebee's and save yourselves $150. I have had Thanksgiving meals in hotels in Chicago: Peninsula, Boston:Four Seasons and New York: Ritz. I was looking forward to an experience at this fine old grand hotel, I could not have been more disappointed. There was no part of the meal options that I would rate even good. Hard to ruin a raw bar but the oysters were tasteless and too warm, the shrimp had an odd oder and were slimy ( thawed too fast). The chacuterie options were cubbed cheddar, low quality brie, a passable goat cheese and blue with store bought crackers. The best was the salad course which was pre-served and dressed in small old fashion glasses among the selection was a macaroni salad that tasted like the kind you find in a the deli section of a large grocery store. Main course: the worst turkey I have ever made was more moist than the one they served, the prime rib was 50% gristle (did have a good whipped horseradish condiment). Finally the dessert bar while the best of the courses was nothing special and certainly not reflective of the price tag of the meal. Perhaps the best indicator of the poor standards of the brunch were the small details like the spoons used to serve the sides had not been cleaned likely since the brunch began and could not be removed from the plates they rested on because of the build up of gunk. The waiters in the dining room were great. Previous reviews have cited service as poor, I don't believe that applied to the wait staff, only the staff responsible for tending to the food were bad. It was just a shame that this fine old hotel has been reduced to the standards of a Comfort Inn. the mimosas, Bellinis and Bloody Marys are included, so drink up you're going to need it! My hope is that this review will spare someone from making the same mistake I did
