The common areas of the hotel were dirty and unkept. Room was not ready to be booked. No heat, no remote to TV - and then one brought did not work, no hot water in shower. Left behind holiday decor still in areas, sconces at hotel checking were hanging off the wall; ADA push to open not operable.

It was excellent. We visited for a business summit and only left the hotel once for a meal out with the team. We had no reason to leave. The restaurants, bars, breakfast, rooms… were all exceptional and made the three days very comfortable and professional. Lots of food places within walking distance to allow us to break up the team into 8 groups of 8 people to head out for dinner and networking. I would pick this place for sure on future visits to DC with family or for business.

3 days, 3 cold showers. Sorry, but if an "upscale" hotel for this kind of coin can't figure out hot water demand at a fundamental level then no amount of service and amenities can compensate. And no, I'm not alone. Came here on a business retreat with about 65 fellow employees and almost every single one of them that would shower to prepare for the day ahead (say 7-8am) said the shower would not heat up and was downright cold. If you tried the water later on at say 12n or 9p it would be adequately hot, but not when we all needed it the most. C'mon guys for this kind of money and proposed elite experience this is unacceptable. Other small things that detract from the experience? No ice.... If you want ice you can carry yourself downstairs to the bar if its open and ask for a cup of ice or perhaps call the front desk and request it and if you're lucky it may show up. No Hyatt reward points.... my number was missing from the reservation, so I went to the front desk and gave it to them. Never appeared on the app, and still doesn't to this day. Catering service - they never had a place to put finished tableware. I know this sounds petty, but the meals were often in spaces without defined seating or standing room only (which is fine), but if you want to clear space for someone else or put a coffee cup down there was never a place to do it. A simple couple of trays in the corners would have sufficed but instead we are stacking plates on chairs and bars, it's just bizarre. So inattention to the little things and a lack of warm water pretty much ruined which is otherwise a very nice and very expensive hotel in the Navy Yard region.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are extremely clean. If the Nationals are playing it is also the perfect to stay if you are planning to see a game. In winter though the location is a bit isolated so be prepared to take taxis/car service everywhere you want to go (or the Metro is not far away).

Always a wonderful experience and it’s due to staff such as Binny. He provides 5 star attention to detail before during and after all of our stays. It’s because of employees such as he that go above and beyond that are the reason my coworkers and I will only stay at the Thompson when in DC
