About the Hotel

Elegance on the coast of Rhode Island is pristine and inviting at the Ocean House. Iconic white washed facades and traditional architecture are captured by the sunny seaside and miles of white sand. This grand Victorian invites travelers to a slow paced vacation, set to the tranquil timetable of the tides, and sun, teatime, cocktails, sailing regattas, and bonfires on the beach. Perched on the bluffs of Watch Hill, the rebirth of a New England resort is meticulous, an homage to legends of the pass. Personal services for guests offer uncompromising accommodations and treatment. World class amenities are reminiscent of a golden age of hospitality and renewed charm. Whether in Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall, your faultless destination is soothing throughout the year. A 12,000 square foot spa is overflowing from light, pale blue greens and washes of paint invoke the calming nature of the sea. Inspired by organic produce from New England harvests, therapeutic elements of the sea are for rejuvenation of the body, mind and soul.

Reviews for Ocean House

Amazing experience!

Brian from The Bistro was amazing and made our stay extra special by hand delivering a dessert up to our room! Michael also was fantastic, he brought our bags up quickly! Our dinner was delicious, and our room had a beautiful view and was spotless.

Truly iconic

This is one of America’s great resorts, and for good reason. The unique architecture, prime location, and excellent service all conspire for a memorable stay no matter the season. The food here was also a delight, I had a great dinner and enjoying taking part in the cooking classes and wine tastings offered on a rainy day. Would happily return again and again…

Fantastic day at Ocean House

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I visited the hotel for the first time to determine if I'd stay in the spring. My husband and I had a fantastic breakfast (perfectly made omelettes with delicious ingredients, and fabulous coffee). We had a table with a gorgeous view of the ocean; and a very nice and attentive server named Mary (who definitely contributed to a lovely brunch experience). We then met with Robin, the concierge, who very comprehensively & pleasantly outlined the hotel's services at various times of the year. Since our daughter lives nearby (& we don't) we definitely plan on visiting the hotel again (possibly for a few days; minimally for a spa day or special event). I highly recommend this gorgeous hotel.

Dinner at The Bistro-Wow

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

One of our best meals in Newport—and most memorable view overlooking the ocean. Lobster pappardelle and Italian sausage ragout were so memorable. Server Cosmin did an outstanding job. If you like an extensive (expensive) wine list, this is the place to go in southwestern RI. But fear not, they have a sommelier who will guide you with your choice!

Don't miss The Dandy boat experience!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

If you’re staying at The Ocean House, you absolutely can’t miss a sunset cruise on The Dandy. From start to finish, the experience is nothing short of spectacular. Captain Todd, the heart and soul of this voyage, brings a remarkable depth of knowledge and an infectious passion for the local history. His storytelling transforms the boat ride into an engaging and educational journey, weaving historical tidbits with personal anecdotes that make the experience both memorable and meaningful. As the sun begins to set, casting a golden glow across the water, you’re treated to a bottle of Cava and cheese plate. The combination of the crisp, bubbly Cava and the rich, flavorful cheeses complements the stunning views perfectly, adding an extra touch of luxury to an already exquisite experience. The Dandy itself is a charming vessel, providing both comfort and elegance as you glide through waters. Whether you’re a history buff, a sunset enthusiast, or simply someone looking to relax with a glass of Cava in hand, this cruise offers a blend of all three in the most delightful way.
