Lovely stay in the beach house, great facilities and lovely grounds. Spa facilities very clean and felt like luxury. After booking with booking.com third party fees do incur (definatley something to look into prior to booking) we paid £45pp to use the spa facilities and it was definatly worth it, as this can be used multiple times throughout your stay. Breakfast slightly on the pricy side for £25pp as this was not included on our room rate and decided not to have - advisable to check what’s included in your booking.

Stunning hotel. Great decor and features. Spa is lovely. Hot sauna. Nice cold plunge. Amazing staff - all friendly and willing to help. Good breakfast. Good dinner. Good walks in the grounds and only a 10 minute walk from the sea. Will be staying here again.

This hotel has pretensions way beyond what it is able to deliver. The staff are friendly but amateur. The dinner menu is good but the delay in service was sufficiently long that we were offered free glasses of wine. At breakfast, it took 30 minutes for a pot of coffee to arrive and the reaction of the staff was entirely unsurprised - presumably as this is a common occurrence.. Even ordering in the bar was a challenge for the receptionist cum barman who said he didn’t usually serve drinks. Decor is striped seaside peppered with more tasteful pieces. I read a review that said this was the north’s version of The Newt in Somerset - I can only assume the reviewer had been more successful at the bar as the gulf between them is so massive it’s laughable. If you do stay in this area, book dinner at The Homestead Kitchen in Goathland and save yourself the annoyance of the Fawlty Towers experience…

Saltmoore was well reviewed in a national newspaper as if it ranked alongside The Newt etc - but it must have been a paid for write up. It is an incredibly amateur ish hotel with a building site to drive through on entry. Rooms in the Beach House ( nowhere near the beach) are very small and the outdoor bath unusable - could easily add privacy screening. Instead of Nespresso machines have useless and tiny cafetières. Bed is comfortable but wardrobe is tiny and bathroom necessities very basic. Restaurant, bar and gardens all fine though the spa not nearly as good as it thinks it is… Breakfast service a farce - coffee delivered only once finished- again a decent coffee machine for customers to use a simple fix .. Until they can deliver up, prices should come down …

We’ve previously stayed here before it was changed to Saltmoore. The hotel is in a fabulous location- ideally situated between Whitby and Sandsend. This is our fourth visit due to its location, we’ve always enjoyed our stay. The hotel has been renovated to a high standard, the room was lovely (snug room), it was warm in there though (no aircon) we opened the skylights which cooled it down in April, however in the height of summer I think the room would get very hot. The spa was great and as hotel guests sun beds could be reserved at the end of each day. We ate in the restaurant one night and found the food to be very tasty, it was however quite pricey hence why we ate here one night not all three nights. Overall it was a very relaxing stay, the room was a high spec and apart from it being very warm initially (before we opened the windows!) it was lovely. We did stay on a 3 nights for the price of 2 deal. This was a total of £680, which we thought was worth it for the three nights, however we would not pay that for two nights. Friday and Saturday nights are charged at significantly more than other nights, one night of our stay was a Saturday. Overall it was a relaxing stay by the seaside and we will be back! There are a few deals currently on the website for May/June which will make the price more realistic.
