Reviews for Kingsmill Resort

Not worth the money

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This is the third year in a row we’ve stayed at Kingsmill Resort. This year was a complete disappointment. We stayed in a river cottage, which at first looked nice. On closer inspection, it was not as clean as it should be. Dusty, and the stove and microwave were not very clean. Found dirty utensils in silverware drawer. The sliding glass door to the balcony was unlocked, the windows were open and unlocked, and the door to the connecting room was unlocked! We checked in, went to dinner and when we returned and used the bathroom sink it immediately filled and wouldn’t drain. I called the front desk at 7pm and was told by the woman who answered she would immediately call for maintenance. Over an hour later we still hadn’t heard or seen anyone, so my husband called. His call was answered by a male who said he was “the only one there and no one had called about the sink”! My husband told him his wife had called at 7pm! When would maintenance come?!! The front desk said they would call, and finally 40 minutes later the maintenance guy showed up. Later that night we turned down the bed to find the sheet on one side was completely torn; later I took out a towel with worn holes in it! The kitchen had paper towels but no liquid soap detergent or sponge…I had to go get some the next day from the front desk. Let me point out: upon check-in, we asked about late check-out and were told we could stay until noon with no additional charge, which we said we would like and the front desk said they would note that. The next day I stopped again at the front desk to confirm the noon checkout and again was told that was fine. However - on checkout day, at 11:30am I went to take something to the car only to find I was locked out of the room! Thankfully I had my phone; I called the front desk and was told I was supposed to get a different key for late checkout. We were not told that! No apology was given. I waited for someone to come let me in, and had to call again before they sent someone, who couldn’t give me a key and said she had to wait for me to get out of the room!! I checked out at the front desk and upon explaining to the manager on duty what happened she also said we were supposed to “get another key” for any late checkout. I again said the front desk had two different opportunities to tell me which they did not do. It appears the staff needs to be better trained and informed on what guests need to know. For the money we spent to stay two nights here, I would expect much better. Kingsmill is no longer worth the money.

Terrible will never be back

This place is in total disrepair- The staff is not trained in customer service. This used to be upper scale now I would call it motelish- and we were staying in one of their best rooms the cottages incredibly overpriced for what you get- For instance, a resort fee for what it’s winter the pool is not open. The spa is a joke.

Wonderful people

The room was nice, and the view was lovely. The food was generally good, but the staff was wonderful. Particular shout out to the breakfast chef Greg and Crystal McNeely at the spa. They were both lovely, and probably the highlight of my visit.

Not what I expected for resort quality !

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The resort rooms are really out dated . No ice machines , room amenities such as coffee and soap were empty . Golf course was a very nice layout but the fairways weren’t cut very well. Grass clippings in the fairway and a little unkempt in some. If you are going to charge resort prices then give resort quality . I was told one price when I booked and paid a $600 deposit . The balance according to the given price should have been another $675 but it was $847 . After I paid it all then I received a notice that they wanted to charge another $600.74 3 weeks after the balance was paid . The entire time we were there , none of the credit card machines worked and everything had to be written down . This place is pretty much a higher end public course .

better than my last stay in 2021

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The last time I sent to the Kingsmill resort, it was 2021. I decided to give it another try and this visit was better, but not perfect. The only thing that I can say that was not great was that the paper coffee cups were dirty. Someone had put ours back with dirty hands. We went to the front desk to ask for new ones and they said they would be over with them and creamer. They never showed. This was on 10/11/24. Otherwise, what I appreciate at Kingsmill is that you are not in a hotel building with elevators and long hall ways. I like being able to be outside when I open my door. I had an expectation of luxurious exclusivity here, but once you are inside of the resort, I would say it is not pretentious at all.

All the comforts of home and the bedding and linens were way too comfortable! Clean and tidy. Our kids loved the whole experience.

Super Super Super service from the staff members we encountered. This is what brings us back twice a year. We LOVE the service.

My family and I recently returned from a 5 night stay at Kingsmill Resort. Our experience was terrific. The resort offered great tennis, golf, fishing, etc. -- so much to do even with a day or two at Colonial Williamsburg and the parks, that we were tempted to stay an extra day... I would recommend this resort without qualification to friends, family and to my company for sales meetings.
