A phrase often used to describe an earthly paradise, the search for Shangri-La has eluded pleasure seekers for centuries, but thanks to the innovative minds at Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, the search for utopia ends with Banyan Tree Ringha. Nestled betwixt the rolling hills of the Tibetan countryside, Banyan Tree Ringha embodies serenity and simplicity in the Yunnan Province of Tibet's very own Shangrila County. Artfully restored and meticulously maintained Tibetan farmhouses serve as comfortable, spacious lodgings in this heavenly hideaway. Outfitted in rich colors of the Tibetan flag, bold blues, romantic reds, and golden yellows coat the walls and plush tapestries, while intricate woodcarvings and local art enhance the décor. Guests preferring a more intimate setting may opt for one of the smaller bi-level cottages, where a cozy fireplace and handcrafted wooden hot tub offset the rustic charm.

Our trip to Banyan Tree Ringha was absolutely perfect (3 nights). The place is stunning. The Tibetan suite is wonderful. Everything was perfect from the stay to the meals. The room is well taken care of in details. Thank you all the hotel staffs for making our stay so comfortable. Special thanks to Soda and William ;-)

The location is quite remote but in the hillside. Best for relaxing. Most of the staff cannot speak English, however there was a staff name, Soda, taking care of me along the period that I stay. And very fluent in English. Decorations here is quite unique, in Tibetan Style, it’s quite impressive but it has 2 floors. And all the water supplies are in downstair, so when I’d like just to wash hand for having some snacks on the 2nd floor. I need to walk to downstair. So this thing is a bit weired to me.

Restaurant staff are excellent. Attentive and efficient. View from the room is nice but the room itself is a little untidy and the layout is a bit strange.

We were looking for a peaceful location to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the Shangri-la landscape, and the Banyan Tree Ringha was perfect for this. Nestled among other farm houses outside of Ringha village, the Banyan Tree property's footprint is small and inconspicuous. I couldn't help but marvel at the hotelier's choice of location, with snowy mountains visible far away into the horizon, a peaceful river down below in the valley, and wild forests still inhabited by wild bears. Nearby, the Gyalthang Ringha Monastery sits on a quiet hill hugged by colourful prayer flags, the wind echoing their prayers for compassion, peace and loving kindness, and temple bells jingle lightly, in harmony with the deeper yak bells in the distance. And the stars are beautiful at night. We found ourselves transported into a tibetan home, authentic yet with the familiar pamperings of Banyan tree scents, stylings and amenties. We ate there during the entire duration of our 2 night stay, and the menu was enough for us. Lovely gentle staff too, always happy to cater to our needs.

What a gorgeous Tibetan style hotel in a fantastic wild location. Our villa made us feel like royalty and outside the door was a beautiful river valley to walk through full of animals. The service is impeccable and of course we had a wonderful time.
