Way too much for too little

“Lipstick on a pig”. Rooms are very nicely decorated but the place isn’t much. No elevators. Way too many “rules” to follow. My wife made a breakfast selection and when breakfast was delivered her item was replaced with a note saying “all out-sorry” with no replacement offered. Certainly not worth the price but frankly Carmel isn’t worth the price. Mild moldy smell pervaded the place.

A Wonderful Stay Every Time!

My wife and I have been staying at the Carriage House Inn for years, and it’s always a highlight of our trips to Carmel-by-the-Sea. The rooms are spotless, beautifully maintained, and have that cozy charm that makes you feel right at home. The staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming — they always make us feel like family. Every visit is relaxing, peaceful, and memorable. We truly look forward to our stay at the Inn each year and couldn’t recommend it more highly!

Cozy, comfy, intimate, incredible service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Cozy, quaint, immaculate, with every little detail thought out - from fans, to high-end toiletries, to water bottles, coffee, wine, you name it. My husband and I loved the morning breakfasts, everything was delish. Parking on site is key. This is the perfect location for walking Carmel or heading into Big Sur. The only watch-out is no air conditioning. While AC isn't normally a big need in Carmel, I'm a hot sleeper and from the Midwest. I like it COLD at night. That said, they provide two top-notch fans in the room, along with just about every little personal care item you can think of. Highly recommended for solo or couples travelers, or a girls trip.

Weekend Getaway for Two

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Carriage House Inn is a very quaint, quiet getaway nestled in the thick of downtown Carmel. Although there is much going on around the property, you don't feel it especially when staying in a room that does not face a street. The staff are very friendly and inviting. There are lists of things you can do listed on a chalkboard behind the front desk which we found were nice additions to complement our stay. There is a nightly reception with hors 'Erves, wine and often great company with other guests. The room was comfortable and quiet and offered a retreat from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Each morning breakfast is brought to your room. You place your order the night before and include delights such as quiche, freshly baked muffins, etc. Our only real concern was the bed which we felt was too firm and ultimately uncomfortable overall as it sloped upward on both sides to a peak that kept us apart while sleeping.
