Reviews for Old Edwards Inn and Spa

Outstanding Anniversary Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We have been visiting the Highlands for several years, enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery and spending time with family. We finally decided to book a stay at Old Edwards Inn to celebrate our anniversary. It was perfect in every way! From the moment we checked in and all throughout our stay, the staff (at Inn, Spa, and restaurants) were friendly, professional, and attentive; greeting us by name and ensuring we had a great experience. We felt welcomed and cherished. The resort's location is breathtaking, surrounded by beautiful mountain landscapes. It was so peaceful and quiet, offering the perfect way to relax and reflect. We stayed in a beautiful, charming lodge suite. It was beautifully appointed, spacious, pristine, and very comfortable. My experience at the Spa was delightful and relaxing. With quiet, device-free meditation rooms, a mineral whirlpool, saunas, massages, and so much more, you can truly indulge in a serene experience. Dining at the resort is impressive; every meal is a culinary delight! We enjoyed cocktails and music at the Rooftop Bar; delicious pizzas and salads at Four65 Bistro; lite bites at The Wine Bar; and an outstanding dinner at Madison's -- the perfect anniversary celebration. From the extraordinary cuisine, the exceptional service, to the charming ambiance, our experience was absolutely incredible. Thank you to everyone for the hospitality and service we received at Old Edwards Inn and Spa. It was the perfect anniversary celebration! We look forward to our next visit!

Exceptional- world class

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Simply wonderful. We stayed in the older main house and had a suite with a balcony. The room was in utter good taste with a completely renovated bathroom. Like being in a sophisticated European castle. The grounds and pool are beyond lovely and charming. We also had multiple meals at the property and my wife utilized the spa, all were exceptional. We used to annually stay in Nantucket. Our new plan is to stay annually at the old Edwards inn, truly a world class exceptional property.

Overrated experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

We were really excited for our weekend at old Edwards inn. We stayed at the falls cottages and the room was very cozy with the fireplace, heated floors were nice and enjoyed the soaking tub. The shower seemed to have some drainage issues as the water was not draining well and filled up above our ankles. The bed was comfortable but quite worn. We think the box spring was broken. The property grounds were nicely maintained. We spent some time at the falls pool vs. main pool. The main pool got extremely crowded so unless you go early there is a chance you may not get a spot. The biggest reason for a 3 star review was due to the service. The cost of the hotel was not reflected in the service. We tried to call room service and were re routed to the operator 3 times before someone picking up at Madison’s. The room service also ends at 10pm which felt a bit early. At check in the staff mentioned how great their turn down service was which didn’t include any kind of treat or “extra” which we typically get at other hotels and resorts at this price point. No minibar to purchase wine beer etc. and water bottles were $5 per bottle in the room. This felt like something that should be included as a guest. We ate at Madison’s and a couple tables had no service for ~20 minutes. We also got drinks at the hummingbird one night and it seemed like there was one wait staff for the whole place. Very slow service. Additionally we did a spa day and overall the experience was just ok. The amenities are beautiful but the treatment itself was underwhelming. Not worth the $250 price tag. I would return again but level set upon the expectations there are some significant gaps in service.

Our 2nd time visiting

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

This was our 2nd time to Old Edwards and It was not like the first. We had a wonderful stay the years before and I was hoping for the same this last trip. House Keeping needs much improvement. We came back to our room in the afternoon to find our door left wide open. They obviously forgot to close it after servicing it. Housekeeping does not pay attention to details. Our bed was made up very messy and Turndown service was just as bad. I did report this to the front desk. Our room floor needed to be vacuumed but was never taken care of. The grounds were not kept up as before and the hot tub area was full of tree debris. But, I can say the check in service and employees in the Inn up front were wonderful and so very friendly. We only had 1 meal at Madison's for breakfast and it was some what disappointing. Our omelets were extremely wet and not much flavor. I had to ask 2 different times for a clean glass for water. Both times my glass smelled dirty. My husbands was fine. There are so many wonderful food options in the area that we like to try. It is a beautiful lodge and surrounding areas but will try a different place to stay next time for the price point we paid. I know there are new owners of the inn and hopefully things will return to the quality it used to be.

A great spot for a weekend getaway for two

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

I read a recommendation and had this on my list of places to visit soon. It's a great couples retreat and if you like to hike and be outdoors even better. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was very good. Our room and the grounds are beautiful.
